Most people enjoy receiving gifts, which there is nothing wrong with. It is when people expect a gift, instead of appreciate them, that makes gift-giving toxic. I've gone out of my way to tell my gf straight-forward that I'm not spending a ton of money during the holidays, and she may not even get gifts for some of them. This is especially true in the future when we raise kids/want to raise them to not be material-driven/want to conserve money.
Woman generally arenโt as stoic in these matters as we are, it made my wifeโs night that I got her a balloon, find the right girl and it really is the thought that counts imo

If you're familiar with this white baby boom, go on the Wikipedia page of any majority White sate north of the Mason-Dixon line, go to Demographics, then find 'Birth Data' and compare 2014's numbers to 2013's. The normal trend is a decrease each year, but 2014 saw increases due to weather+shutdown.
Some states above Mason-Dixon didn't experience it though. Generally, most did.
