Alright so this is the second time in a row that I’ve gone to the gym and it feels as if either a vein or a ligament is pinching in my left elbow
Does anyone know what this might be and how do I fix it
Is it during a specific exercise?
Anything that curls my bicep, and only at full curl
Might be good to just not do that for a week and see how it feels at that point
Yeah I'm just going to relax for awhile, keep it straight. It feels more like a nerve than a muscle
@Cacoethes That used to happen to me when I’d use an easy curl bar. I had to switch to straight bar and dumbbells only.
@Deleted User try massaging it. Also try different variations of curls, and try to switch the placement of your elbow (maybe bring it closer to your body or farther out in front of you to isolate the bicep)
Massaging the elbow tip gives me little jolts down my forearm into my knuckles. 100% a nerve. And yeah next gym sesh I’ll try that. Until then I’ll keep it straight. That makes it feel better

@Zyklonius B Gassem-LA good question. Someone said to me it's always good, though I haven't gotten to getting it yet. Neither that nor the lifting shoes I should get
I'm getting some Adidas adipowers for Christmas I'm pretty stoked for that. Never worn lifting shoes before
I'm almost up to 300lbs on the squat at 165, I'm not noticing a form deterioration
I love squats.
Also I know this is super novice world stuff, but I've been consistently adding 5kg to my squats every session for about 12 sessions now. I'll try not to get used to it, but it's the thing that's been consistently good for me. My bench on the other hand was disappointing yesterday. I shot for too high an increase, missed it, and then was too shot to even repeat my weight from last time.
I'm following the starting strength program so I'm effectively doing the same thing.
My bench is frustratingly bad. I hate it so much I think about quitting on bench days
I use belt when squatting 80-85% of my max
Otherwise I don't use one because I want my core to strengthen
It's good that I don't always use one because at my first powerlifting meet I was so nervous I forgot to tighten my belt clasp, but made the lift regardless
I'm not quitting it's just frustrating when novices can bench more than you when I've been lifting for about a year.

@Zyklonius B Gassem-LA I use my belt for squats once I get to my body weight or above. It’s a good idea to use it at lower weight to develop the muscle memory

Welp fam, I hit 590 on my final attempt and locked it out but there was some baby powder left on the bar so my hand slipped and I dropped the bar.
Still finished with a super easy 568 second attempt. Will post videos later tonight

Just leaving my new gym. It's a shame the nastiest greasiest people are the ones that don't wipe the equipment off. But from my second night back at a gym vs working out at home I can tell a big difference in how much work I feel like I get in.
Just got to take a second to brag about my 365# back squat PR today. Looking forward to big number on the rest of my lifts this week.

@JesseJames Incline is pretty vital in getting that rounded strong chest look as well as being able to put up bigger numbers on a flat bench.
@GDoctor this is what I'm told but I tried to find a good routine for doing this but there is so much bs out there I was hoping to find a good one from someone with real experience.
I try to do both flat and incline presses with dumbbells 8-12 reps for 3 sets on each exercise. It has made my bench press numbers better and aesthetically improved my chest. Would recommend.
How much of an incline do you use?
One guy I worked out with did incline flat and decline. He had a huge chest to.
Incline and decline pushups are also a good way to accomplish the same thing, though they work in reverse. Incline push ups (feet on the floor and hands on the bench) work the same muscles as decline bench press, and decline push ups (feet on the bench and hands on the floor) work the same muscles as incline bench press.

It's not bad, but I still prefer my college's gym.
I'm in a small town. Had a great gym that was 24 hours all the free weights and machines anyone could want. Not much riff raft, never busy and no spin classes or any of that bs. Then planet fitness came to town and put them out of business. I held off for almost a year before joining hoping another one would open.
I don't see how other gyms can compete, kinda sad

In my small town made up of mostly upper middle class family's ofcourse they want to go with the trendy name. I think most of the people only pay their memberships to have the tag on their key rings. While the ones whom actually work out and go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week would prefer a "real" gym.

@Deleted User when I was 18-20 I was taking cheat codes went from 135-140 to 175-180 had kids got married and all that stuff. Quit working out until a couple of years ago and got back up to a natural 160 and now I'm 175 and stronger than ever.
Nice. I have a small natural disability and I spent 2013- around cville 2 lifting and doing lots of work to keep my body in shape, naturally. Did some martial arts, got a knee to my back which led to a kidney infection, which swelled and btfod my back. But I went from 120 in 2012 to about 190 at 15% in August.
