We're led to believe that, as White people, we're somehow bland, or devoid of flavor, color, or culture. It leads to a feeling of insecurity and emptiness, thinking that we would be better off bringing a significant other into the fold whose status as a member of one of the favored demographics, whose worth is actually acknowledged, would prevent our children from feeling the same way. Could just be me projecting, but I've heard others say pretty much the same thing.

I think there's also a strong understanding in the White collective subconscious that minority status is incoming, and one can already see some of our people quietly hitching their wagons to the Parade of Color in anticipation of negative treatment for those Whites who remain as such.

I felt ashamed inside that I couldn’t feel at peace with those ideas but I became an advocate for things I now reject. I remember writing letters to the university editor endorsing diversity as a strength, advocating for more minorities on campus but I never believed a word of it! I’m ashamed now and regret it immensely and I wish I knew then what I know now. But I got sucked into that philosophy by people I looked up to and respected. 😩😩
