Apologies for my absence, been not feeling so hot since NJP last weekend- seems everyone got sick to some extent or the other. Loving the energy and progress in here, particularly from @Wilson TX !
@Matt TX Check in dog
I have a killer case of bicep tendoinitis right now, can't really train hard or perform any barbell lifts and its driving me mad..gonna attack it with a super low carb (anti-inflammatory) diet, lay off the weights and finally join the muay thai gym so I don't lose my mind..hopefully the tendonitis and shoulder injury resolve soon so I can get back after it 100%
It seems I've been absent a bit as well. I'm going to go for a run tomorrow since I haven't in a while to test out my cardio. If any of y'all have questions about running feel free to ask me. I was into distance running for about 8-9 years before I got hooked on BJJ and weights.
@Patrick TX Ever since I got my CPAP to resolve my sleep apnea, I've been feeling nothing BUT HIGH ENERGY. I've also noticed I'm a lot less hungry than I used to be, making it easier to commit to my diet plan. My attention span is slowly coming back and along with it my motivation to accomplish things I've been wanting to do for years now, especially getting rid of THIS FAT. Super excited to finally be able to do things without relying on Adderall to give me an edge.
Today I bit the bullet and finally purchased a quality pair of running shoes, don't forget your feet gentlemen there important.
Solid workout session today, focused some more on situps/push ups instead of what I usually do with benchpress and dumbbells in order to be more proficient at simpler workouts.
Looking forward to activism meet up tomorrow
Floyd how is that biting the bullet? Running shoes are part of the arsenal from day one.
And yeah Wilson, addys are garbage, good to ditch them.
Did my hour of incline walking. Total calories for the day: 752 Calorie deficit: 1601
@Walter ID extremely impressive.
Oh, well it's a worthwhile investment, nice running shoes can be great
Iv had ok shoes for running and walking but i needed shoes to correct how i walk and run.
Im not sure what to call it but my feet would sometimes give/bow out when walking or running. The shoes i bought are more expensive than normal one due to being more supportive
I typically use shoes with insoles, as my feet are large at size 13/14 and need the support
Got off work early because my dad and brother want to watch the football game. Which is fine with me. Because I'll have a 4 hour workout ahead of meπ€
Damn right, 4 hours is some proper conditioning
@Floyd FL I need to get a new pair. I haven't really run since I was preparing for the Mt Elbert hike so I thought I'd struggle, but I had no problem. Was able to run 4 miles pretty easily.
@all I'd recommend anyone who's thinking of running to go do it. The cooler weather makes running significantly easier.
My jog time today was 12 minutes 54 seconds, not on treadmill. new running shoes immediately better and weather is great today.
in a mile
Deadlift (1 plate), overhead press (50lbs), and squats (85lbs) today, and a 30 minute incline walk.
Calories for the day: 1009
Calorie deficit: 1344
Good share Patrick, was just checking that out myself
Embrace NY NJ wigger hardcore if you're GMI
@Matt TX you are backsliding and putting your make it status in a tenuous position, check in
Damn that is such a good album crushed leg day to it..all my born to lose fam that crawled out or are crawling out of a gutter will resonate π―
@Patrick TX one of my all time favorite albums is Echoes of Battle by Caladan Brood: https://youtu.be/c6wzijeiClA
I've found that most of the songs in that album are good for working out, but a few are a bit too slow for that.
YES ALAN GREAT ALBUM
we are entering black metal season
This will make u cry while crushing your PR
During the Winter in Michigan walking through the snow late at night while listening to some Tolkien style fantasy black metal in clothes that keep you from freezing to death but still let you get cold is a vibe that reawakens your revolutionary spirit.
Currently posting from sauna following glorious workout, coherent detailed check in when I get home to computer..lots of sin and weakness to sweat out
I know those feels exactly Alan. Our hearts beat as one comrade. Check out Enisum for that positive atmospheric BM vibes..shit I gotta start listening to more BM again. Funny how our aesthetic sensibility and taste evolve with our surroundings. When I was in NY it was all black metal during winter, now it's outlaw country gritty folk and bluegrass in TX.
Nearly every man in the "movement" has shared this vibe in my experience. I think its ubiquity is a testament to the nature we share with our brethren.
Your environment definitely has an impact. Whenever we are in the hood of Detroit for activism (which is almost all the time) I naturally am drawn towards more wigger music like Mr. Bond.
Make sure to sub to Atmospheric Black Metal channel on YT https://youtu.be/jJlCQaBdPTA
Also check out Violet Cold
Black metal season fuck yes, crush it lads
Cold walks at night, perfect too
I do dig outlaw darker bluegrass too, especially in live shows
Just finished 2 hours of Jiu-Jitsu after a 10 hour shift, one of the very few nights where my performance was lacking, emotionally distracted by some separate issues. However, had the rare blessing to witness my preferred Sensei handle a situation involving his handicapped daughter in the main lobby, witnessing someone full of Martial Power display such patience and grace reminded me that sometimes, it's all about kindness, looking out for those you love, and working towards future power and glory moving forwards. You best believe I will have a long and tough, yet extremely positive, lifting session first thing tomorrow morning, to celebrate my gratitude for this White American Heritage I so proudly bear.
Had a real bad week, was pretty sick and under the weather, a little demoralized in light of my injury woes and it precluding me from training hard. Got a great lift in today and can finally squat pain free, so whatever was messed up in my tibia is alleviated. Need to find a protocol to attack my rotator cuff and tendonitis issues. @Norman AL I'm sure you'll have some wisdom. Gonna stick to low carb for a while for the anti-inflammatory properties, keep up the fish oil and add in low dose (ibuprofen or advil?) and get serious about band rehab stuff everyday. I assume the tendonitis will alleviate with some time and rest..but unfortunately it is precluding me from doing any upper body work. Got to start getting serious about icing it too, and up the sauna sessions. Have to do more research on this stuff, but unfortunately you just get bullshit medical orthodoxy stuff in the top search results. The owner of my gym said that platelet and stem cell therapy helps, worth looking into.
This all seems trivial and it is, but my holistic wellness and state of mind is very dependent on hard training and physique.
Respect for your commitment and discipline like always Norm
Total calories for the day: 920 Calorie deficit: 1433
So i may have an oppurtunity to get a full time jonlb splitting firewood for a local place and was wondering what the consensus is on log splitting for a workout/training, and if i get this job what would be recomendesd to suppliment that
I assume you will be using a hydraulic splitter
Apperntly its 3 guys using a maul. One guy splits for 10min one guy brings logs over and one guys stacks the logs. Heard about this through a family friend so who knows,
Band work, heavy animal fats, turmeric, heating pads and ice pads in rotation, these all help tendinitis. Stem cell would be above all that, but sometimes expensive
Logsplitting is great, when i worked in lumberyards years ago, I put in 60 hour work weeks and hit bodybuilding at the gym 6 days a week, and spent literally all the rest of my time sleeping and eating haha
Came out after 6 months stronger than an ox
Which means, do not stop working out.
Measure your lifts to work with your daily labor, don't injure yourself, but always keep some iron moving, even if only 3 times a week
I just beat my bet 1 mile time by a minute and 5 seconds. my best was 12 minutes 24 seconds and today's was 11 minutes 19 seconds.
Keep it up Floyd, hammer it every single day
thats great work floyd
@Walter ID How many pounds are you down? You seem to be doing quite well with the deficits and the check ins. Are you working in cardio?
@Floyd FL Were you able to keep a pretty consistent jogging pace for that, or did you find yourself stopping and starting?
Sorry for not checking, but I do maintain daily reporting with @Norman AL and staying on top of my cardio. Closing in on 65 pounds lost and have began incorporating calisthenics into my workouts.
Managed to get a mile in 9:25 and I can maintain a plank for 2:30, of which I am now building up to 3:00
Pyramid routine today, but situps added to pushups. Starting at 30 and going down by fives makes 105 pushups and 105 situps, done within 5 sabaton songs, and then I drank a cup of 3 raw eggs, 30 milligrams of protein powder, topped off with whole milk, all done whilst ignoring texts from a bratty female

@Thomas I'll weigh myself tomorrow and get back to you on that. Main cardio has just been incline walking, tends to be an easier way to burn a lot of calories than running is. I did complete the mile run in under 9 minutes for the fitness standards though.
@Nathan MI Fucking awesome dude
Consumed approximately 1500 calories today and did some moderate cardio.
digging the pfp king, wonder where you got it ;)
Sounds like your mental health is doing better. Hope you and @Benjamin MI still plan on being gym buddies
GOt my second workout with the Texas Method in. Squats, Overhead Press, then I did 3 sets to failure of bodyweight chinups.
Squats (90lbs), barbell row (85lbs), and bench press (65lbs) along with an hour of incline walking. Total calories for the day: 760 Calorie deficit: 1593
Keep up the work Hugh, a few more months and you'll be stronger and faster than ever
Nathan has the style I dig, Sabatan, Raw Egg, Disregard Irritating Women, Amen
*Sabaton
Hugh's turning into a raw egg Nationalist. I like it! I remember people looking at me weird when I'd drink raw eggs or eat them over rice. I never got it. They taste pretty good. And you can larp as Rocky if you really want to.
Raw egg goes super good on a hot steak too
Raw egg with rice actually sounds pretty good as long as there was some flavoring π€π€π€
@Thomas Somehow still sitting at 223. Really not sure how, even on days where I've eaten more than usual I've still had a deficit of at least a few hundred calories.
Iβve been drinking my raw eggs with hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, I think itβs called a prairie oyster or something
Beef tartare with raw egg for breakfast today
Ohh yeah prairie oysters! Love that
@Walter ID Either there's something wrong with your dieting, or your metabolism is capable of breaking the laws of physics. Caloric deficit means your body has to burn fat to compensate for the lack.
63 pushups today. Abs hurt from yesterday. Will be doing my other 42 pushups later today
@all I'm helping with the spreadsheets for all you guy's progress now. We have about 2/3 of you guys' starting weights but not very many current weights. So please include those in your updates. Also, I made columns for pushups, pullups, plank and mile run so please update me on your personal bests for those 4 things. Also give personal anecdotes as you go along so we can put them in the notes section. Keep training hard guys
@Thomas My only other thought was that maybe I gained as much weight in muscle mass as I lost in fat making it even out to nothing since I've been doing the stronglifts 5x5 routine but other than that not sure what's up.
You're probably right. Theres a term called recomposition where guys try to maintain their weight while adding more muscle and losing fat. Even though you are aiming to lose weight, I think the gains from starting to lift are contributing to your stagnant weight. You gain a ton of muscle in the first year of working out usually and then the progress is very steady, but minimal afterwards unless you take gear. If you can see noticable progress in the mirror than I would not be too discouraged by the scale. You're not eating a lot of calories so make sure to eat nutritious foods and protein. You're likely making progress, but the scale doesn't show it and you have too much extra weight on your frame where it makes it harder to see the progress in the mirror. Just keep hitting the numbers
@Walter ID If you're going at a thousand calorie deficit almost every day, then it would be very hard to gain several pounds of muscle in a relatively short time. Perhaps you could find a way to measure your bodyfat percentage more accurately.
One thing to keep in mind is day to day weight fluctuation. Analyze your weight over a weekly period (even with measuring daily) to get a better idea. You may already be doing that though
10 hour shift, 2 hours hard jiu-jitsu rolls, check π€π»
Screen Shot 2021-11-19 at 8.57.35 AM.png

@all This weekend is the perfect time for you guys to do your 3rd checkin of the month. The screenshot above is indicates the numbers I'm tracking and would like to obtain from all you guys. I also have another spreadsheet indicating weekly checkins and weekly progress. All your milestones, struggles and such are also recorded so be open about your fitness journey
@Thomas My pace was decent but when I stopped jogging I walked fast continuing the jog. I didn't stop moving to clarify.
This weekend will be suitably brutal. This morning, 2 hours Chest and Back weights, then 2 hours nonstop no gi rolls. Tonight, 2 hours teaching Krav Maga.
Tomorrow morning, 2 hours Eskrima Kali, then 2 hours Jiu-jitsu
Sunday, 12 hour shift, then 2 hours arms and shoulders, weights
Somewhere in there will be more Ritual Meditations
"Soy" oh gawd
Most brands are mediocre at best, usually trash. I don't recognize that one.
