Hello friends. I have a question for anyone who’s a CNA or RN, or just anyone with some knowledge on this topic. I’ve been doing caregiving for elderly and disabled people for a few years, and I want to work towards becoming a CNA so I can further my knowledge/do more for my clients/more pay etc. There’s a local service that does CNA exam prep over the course of a few weeks for a few hundred bucks. My question is are services like this really needed with the amount of information that can be found online? This service and instructor are held in high regards, so I don’t think it’s just a scam, but if I can save some money I’d like to. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. First thing I’d do is figure out your budget. How much of your monthly income can you currently allocate to rent and utilities?

Do a quick look on Craigslist, are local rents properties in your area within a reasonable rental price?

I was living in California a few months ago and it was a nightmare in my area thwre

Some general advice I can give you to look for in potential rentals: I’ve always been good at conserving water and electricity, so sometimes a place that includes utilities in the price might not be cheaper in the long run

I’ve never had a problem with that tbh, my credit isn’t amazing but it’s not bad either, and I’ve never been shut down because of it

At the end of the day, if you can show you’re an individual of upstanding character, can hold a job and pay the rent on time, age probably won’t be a factor.

But be aware that every landlord has their own biases.

Plenty of rental listings I’ve seen over the years explicitly state what type of renter they’re looking for. Like “single student, no pets” etc

Start doing what you can now to build your credit. It’ll only help you down the road

Oof, I’m very conflicted on that one. On one hand I remember getting spanked as a kid and there are few times I remember being that scared and upset as a youngin. I also never want to be that mad at my kid that I’d hit them.

So I hope having a stern presence and using a booming tone will be sufficient when it comes to that.

Agreed. My mom and dad had times where they didn’t work together and that’s something I want to stress with my wife when the time comes

Meatballs are always good. I like mixing the beef with an egg, spices and bread crumbs. Then when I roll them I put some mozzarella in the middle. Goes great with a lot of pasta dishes.

Congratulations brother! I’m in the exact same boat as you. I’ve read a few, and the majority of them all do this same dumb thing; “hur dur hormonal wives and dirty diapers! Now you can’t watch football all day.” One book that I found that doesn’t do that and actually gives good advice is “idiots guide: pregnancy for dads”

I’m sure everyone’s noticed this at least once, but what are your thoughts on this modern style of parenting where the kid whines and the parents just hand them a smartphone or tablet.

It makes me sad, these kids can’t even speak and they’re already being conditioned by too much screen time and instant gratification, all because the parents are lazy

FTN discussed this a few weeks back and they think the Chinese space program is just a show to save face on the international stage. Their culture has spent so much time focused inward that were they to become the global superpower all off world ventures would cease to be.

I’ve been told since I started working in healthcare that feeling upset and saddened over the declining condition or death of those in your care is normal and actually a sign that you’re the type of individual that belongs in this field, and this has been the case for me. I’ve bonded with the people I’ve taken care of and felt a great sense of loss when some of them have passed away. Lately however I feel like I’ve been losing this. I’ve recently felt tired, distracted, and at times even jaded and cynical. I feel that many things have contributed to this; being witness to neglect, working with non whites who can barely speak English let alone properly take care of people, getting to know good people who can’t afford the care they need, etc. I don’t want to ramble on endlessly but I would like to ask others in the medical and healthcare field if they’ve ever experienced this as well. Did it pass? If so how’d you get past this? Should I consider seeking another career field based on this? Any advice or opinion is appreciated, thank you. <@&435155893747974155>

When I was a kid my dad made me play football and I never really wanted to. But if the kid wants to do it and isn’t being forced/ pressured into it they might get really resentful if they’re not allowed to

I totally get the worry of injury. I broke my arm playing football. But a kid won’t think about that and just get upset

Maybe flag football if the option is available?
