The vast majority of people just want a better life for themselves and their families and don't really give a shit about abstract principles
People like us who sit around and read political theory are very rare
not sure about that - most people in USA love "American" values like tolerance, democracy, and diversity
People like us just have to direct the angry masses when everything goes south

Most people say they love things like tolerance and diversity because they're conditioned to do so. It's not that they disagree per se, but people mostly self segregate though they'd never admit it
Mass media is a hell of a drug

@Nemets I genuinely don't believe that the average white person really gives a shit about "diversity" or "tolerance"
There's a very small amount of true believers who will do things like intentionally finding diverse schools for their kids
They exist but they're not common at all
My very liberal diversity loving friends have admitted they’d never raise and send their kids to schools on the west side of Salt Lake City !! 😂 I wonder why 🤔
The vast majority actively avoid diverse schools. It's no coincidence that busing coincided with the private school boom
I used to apply minor pressure on people at a previous job along that line of rhetoric
They'll insist it isn't racial, but deep down they know
"what do you mean 'good schools', they all get the same funding from the county!?!"
at least here, all the white students attend diverse schools. They're a fifth of the youth by census count, and that includes Moslems
the rich people here are pretty enthusiastic about it too - great opportunities for their kids in pacific palisades and beverly hills to grow up with the future leadership class of china, vietnam, bengladesh, pakistan, qatar, etc
diversity to them means a very different thing from what it means to us

@TMatthews my family avoided public schools altogether and homeschooled me and my brothers
Homeschooling is more & more preferable to the pub-ed route.
Just make sure you socialize them
I was homeschooled for a few years and met some kids who were complete weirdos because their parents never let them leave the house.
Easily mitigated by having a cover school or something
