That migrant story is much more complicated then ppl make it

2018-06-02 22:53:42 UTC

@zutt feeling not incontrol is not the same as wanting more control of the EU. When we were told 30,000 Poles were going to come to the UK we weren't happy, when 300,000 turned up in the first year we were really pissed. We have fundamental disagreements in how the EU works and didn't want to be part of it. and that goes for half of the ppl that voted remain.

2018-06-02 22:54:43 UTC

Poppy i understand why you would say that

2018-06-02 22:55:08 UTC

Problem is backtracking this will end in tears

2018-06-02 22:55:19 UTC

As a side note

2018-06-02 22:55:30 UTC

Poles do come less now

2018-06-02 22:55:56 UTC

Since they got more job oportunities home

2018-06-02 22:56:09 UTC

yeah coz there all fuckignhere ๐Ÿ˜‰ why do you think Poland has NK work gangs

2018-06-02 22:56:46 UTC

I dont remember now

2018-06-02 22:56:59 UTC

How big is the polish community ?

2018-06-02 22:57:18 UTC

Isnt here now more of Romanians?

2018-06-02 22:57:24 UTC

See, the question in a situation like that becomes, why is it GB's job to employ Poles?

2018-06-02 22:57:41 UTC

It never was

2018-06-02 22:58:18 UTC

They were willing to work harder and cheaper then homegrown labourforce

2018-06-02 22:58:33 UTC

Thats why so many of them came here

2018-06-02 22:58:38 UTC

Also

2018-06-02 22:58:57 UTC

Tony blair screwed things up

2018-06-02 22:59:45 UTC

Rest of europe impossed limits on immigration when east eu countries joined

2018-06-02 22:59:54 UTC

But britain didnt

2018-06-02 23:03:36 UTC

I don't wish harm on many ppl but Tony Blair is one of them. I wish he would just fuck off and die. Rik Mayall said it best 'Tony Blair has a third fucking heart attack and doesn't kill the bastard.

2018-06-02 23:04:16 UTC

Well lots of ppl hate him

2018-06-02 23:04:31 UTC

Also i like how fucking rich he is

2018-06-02 23:04:52 UTC

And still milking british tax payer anyway

2018-06-02 23:05:31 UTC

I like the way he got the peace envoy to the middle east.

2018-06-02 23:05:48 UTC

Best man for the job

2018-06-02 23:05:52 UTC

Obviously

2018-06-02 23:05:55 UTC

๐Ÿคฃ

2018-06-02 23:06:05 UTC

fuckin joke innit.

2018-06-02 23:06:11 UTC

Yep

2018-06-02 23:07:09 UTC

Well at least he is in a state of eternal political disgrace and never comming back

2018-06-02 23:07:31 UTC

And you can see he would really like to get a second chance lol

2018-06-02 23:08:02 UTC

His faction got corbyned tho and thats it

2018-06-02 23:08:06 UTC

๐Ÿ˜€

2018-06-02 23:08:37 UTC

You from the US zutt? TB is funding an ngo to form a new party.

2018-06-02 23:09:25 UTC

I really wanted Corbyn to win so he could push out the Blairites. And it worked. It just seemed to of gone a bit far.

2018-06-02 23:10:12 UTC

Lel

2018-06-02 23:10:41 UTC

British politics is a huge mess

2018-06-02 23:10:43 UTC

Imo

2018-06-02 23:10:54 UTC

innit just.

2018-06-02 23:11:02 UTC

I think you need complete system change

2018-06-02 23:11:12 UTC

Zutt, you a brit m8?

2018-06-02 23:11:16 UTC

Nah

2018-06-02 23:11:26 UTC

I'm from the ~~US~~ Great State of Texas, myself.

2018-06-02 23:11:41 UTC

I am czech

2018-06-02 23:12:57 UTC

The problem with British system is that you have politicians wjo just get concreted in with no chance of change

2018-06-02 23:13:26 UTC

Constituencies voting constantly for the same person

2018-06-02 23:13:41 UTC

For decades even

2018-06-02 23:13:58 UTC

you say that but I just think it takes a certin person that rises up in UK politics and has no appetite for change.

2018-06-02 23:14:27 UTC

thats half the reason I wanted Corbyn to win the leadership. He certainly shock things up a bit.

2018-06-02 23:15:38 UTC

That election where ukip got milions of votes and one mp for all the trouble

2018-06-02 23:15:53 UTC

Was a nice demonstration of it

2018-06-02 23:16:24 UTC

that's just got to do with the fact that the UK voting system uses districts.

2018-06-02 23:16:37 UTC

thats why I 'campaigned' for proportional representation when we had the ref on it.

2018-06-02 23:17:26 UTC

Yeah proportional representation makes much more sense to me

2018-06-02 23:17:42 UTC

Also abolish house of lords

2018-06-02 23:17:46 UTC

No

2018-06-02 23:17:49 UTC

No.

2018-06-02 23:17:49 UTC

And make senate

2018-06-02 23:17:58 UTC

have them elected

2018-06-02 23:18:05 UTC

Why would you keep that lol

2018-06-02 23:18:06 UTC

10 year terms

2018-06-02 23:18:12 UTC

Stability, Zutt

2018-06-02 23:18:16 UTC

Well at least that

2018-06-02 23:18:31 UTC

Right now its meme institution

2018-06-02 23:18:35 UTC

's why I'm a fan of monarchies

2018-06-02 23:18:46 UTC

When you go as reward

2018-06-02 23:19:02 UTC

At least, ones in which the monarch has some form of actual political power, rather than being a completely ceremonial figurehead.

2018-06-02 23:19:05 UTC

And have lots of perks and almost no responsibility

2018-06-02 23:19:09 UTC

yep. crony as fuck

2018-06-02 23:19:18 UTC

With beeing there for life

2018-06-02 23:19:52 UTC

I'd personally have the Commons elected proportionally and keep the districts, be it with Single Transferrable Vote, for the Lords

2018-06-02 23:20:36 UTC

House of Lords is basically the equivalent of the US senate.

2018-06-02 23:20:37 UTC

You need someone in the position of head of state.

2018-06-02 23:20:49 UTC

Also it has become apparent that you can buy lordship with party donations

2018-06-02 23:21:01 UTC

That's what monarchies are good for. Raised from birth to be a head of state.

2018-06-02 23:21:01 UTC

Ryecast no it isnt

2018-06-02 23:21:24 UTC

I mean from a political structure stance

2018-06-02 23:21:37 UTC

Yeah kind off

2018-06-02 23:21:38 UTC

the whole two houses thing

2018-06-02 23:21:49 UTC

frankly, the Senate needs tweaking too.

2018-06-02 23:21:51 UTC

Term limits!

2018-06-02 23:22:14 UTC

I don't agree on temr limits if you are elected.

2018-06-02 23:22:21 UTC

Term limits, maybe. Age limits, defnitely. Enforced average national wage payment, absolutely.

2018-06-02 23:23:13 UTC

Its complicated with wages but i would be for more transparency

2018-06-02 23:23:15 UTC

I don't agree with that either. You want the ppl that are making desition for your country to be looked after. Less likely to take back handers.

2018-06-02 23:23:37 UTC

Complete lack of privacy in their communications, also yes.

2018-06-02 23:23:42 UTC

Same for their bank accounts.

2018-06-02 23:23:57 UTC

British politics need much more transparency imo

2018-06-02 23:24:00 UTC

their pay is fuck all in a big ship.

2018-06-02 23:24:06 UTC

Being a member of government should not be a reward, it should be something people don't want to become for any reason other than serving.

2018-06-02 23:24:17 UTC

Especialy when public money are involved

2018-06-02 23:24:22 UTC

The core problem with term limits is that it creates a political class

2018-06-02 23:24:56 UTC

Incumbency doesn't just happen because someone's doing a good job

2018-06-02 23:25:07 UTC

I'd also institute Single Transferrable Vote, if people want to keep the districts.

2018-06-02 23:25:53 UTC

It happens in large part due to apathy.

2018-06-02 23:26:55 UTC

And the lack of viable third parties is due to the fact that the first-past-the-post voting system used actively works against the growth of said third parties.

2018-06-02 23:27:05 UTC

Mmhmm

2018-06-02 23:27:36 UTC

The way it works, not voting for a republican or democrat is essentially a vote for the other party

2018-06-02 23:27:37 UTC

Yep

2018-06-02 23:27:44 UTC

Exactly.

2018-06-02 23:27:44 UTC

And actually swapping parties is two votes for that party.

2018-06-02 23:28:15 UTC

Two party system sucks

2018-06-02 23:28:16 UTC

The only way a third party can be viable is if they manage to, on their very first go, manage to win.

2018-06-02 23:28:41 UTC

it *can* happen

2018-06-02 23:28:49 UTC

but yeah

2018-06-02 23:29:00 UTC

Yeah it kind of did happen in gb

2018-06-02 23:29:05 UTC

@Somi to prevent a government position being seen as a reward maybe we should stick 'em in a barracks and feed them only cafeteria food.

2018-06-02 23:29:10 UTC

With liberal Democrats

2018-06-02 23:29:15 UTC

At one point

2018-06-02 23:29:22 UTC

And in that case, they'd simply replace either of the two original parties in the long term.

2018-06-02 23:30:02 UTC

I ahte this line of arguement that a vote for a third is vote for the other. How do you think the UK got their Brexit ref? It was coz of the growth in votes for UKIP. Everyone that voted for them knew they would never win but the message was sent. Politics is a long game.

2018-06-02 23:30:18 UTC

It's simply a matter of fact that that's the case, Poppy.

2018-06-02 23:30:28 UTC

It is, in the US.

2018-06-02 23:30:36 UTC

It's called the spoiler effect, look it up. It's a problem inherent to the first-past-the-post voting system.

2018-06-02 23:30:46 UTC

Yup.

2018-06-02 23:31:57 UTC

Here, CGP Grey did a video about the problems with the system

2018-06-02 23:32:15 UTC

good ol' CGP

2018-06-02 23:33:46 UTC

Well in us

2018-06-02 23:34:17 UTC

You have bernie and progressive wave comming

2018-06-02 23:34:32 UTC

I'm not certain we do.

2018-06-02 23:34:35 UTC

I wonder how big splash it will make in the end

2018-06-02 23:35:18 UTC

Participation in Republican primaries absolutely swept away democrat participation in most areas

2018-06-02 23:35:27 UTC

RyeCast, I wouldn't underestimate the JD

2018-06-02 23:35:42 UTC

JD?

2018-06-02 23:35:54 UTC

Justice Democrats.

2018-06-02 23:38:36 UTC

ugh, that's a doublespeak name if ever I've seen one.

2018-06-02 23:39:38 UTC

Lol

2018-06-02 23:39:43 UTC

Agreed

2018-06-02 23:40:03 UTC

But i would not underestimate them

2018-06-02 23:40:11 UTC

thank Kyle Kulinskie for it. Super hero movies were big at the time ๐Ÿ˜‰

2018-06-02 23:40:40 UTC

I like kyle but the name is 100% cringe

2018-06-02 23:41:41 UTC

His coverage of the election was top notch but he is swimming against the tide with the 'progressives'

2018-06-02 23:46:48 UTC

Well he certainly is better then young turks

2018-06-02 23:49:36 UTC

Secular Talk is respectable. Iโ€™ve certainly got no beef with Kyle.

2018-06-02 23:49:42 UTC

TYT is fun when something happens tha causes Chunk to have a mental breakdown

2018-06-02 23:51:17 UTC

TYT is fun to laugh at. That is true. If you watch their livestream chat itโ€™s like 90% hate watchers

2018-06-02 23:51:24 UTC

I can't even hate watch TYT

2018-06-02 23:53:47 UTC

Yeah i pretty much gave up on them at this point too

2018-06-02 23:54:38 UTC

At least when i watch Jimmy Dore i feel he is genuine

2018-06-02 23:55:02 UTC

But TyT is just shill fest now

2018-06-02 23:58:12 UTC

Agreed.

2018-06-03 02:03:47 UTC

I used to watch TYT a lot.

2018-06-03 02:04:00 UTC

I stopped around the time of the Sam Harris interview they had.

2018-06-03 02:04:10 UTC

That really bugged me.

2018-06-03 02:04:54 UTC

I think that was about the time they really started to lose all self awareness, or maybe I just started to notice it.

2018-06-03 09:06:57 UTC

I dono, i started having my suspicions when they named themselves after the perpetrators of a genocide

2018-06-03 09:08:13 UTC

Ima start a news agency, ima call it the nazi's, its gonna be very lefty but also lots of hating on jews for some reason

2018-06-03 10:13:29 UTC

โ€œ Google is labeling a Trump supporting Republican state senator a โ€œ Bigotโ€ โ€œ by Alex Thompson on Vice

Isnโ€™t it interesting that google keeps making these mistakes, but only in one direction?๐Ÿค”

http://archive.today/qVhGS

2018-06-03 10:18:49 UTC

lmao

2018-06-03 10:18:59 UTC

"you can not offend the maus people"

2018-06-03 10:19:06 UTC

tim getting more and more redpilled by the day

2018-06-03 12:31:23 UTC

@Deleted User in this particular case i would assume it's just a bot that hasn't been coded to reject images with captions

2018-06-03 12:32:16 UTC

but in other cases it seems plausible to me that if tech firms are based in and recruiting from extremely liberal cities, that the biases that manifest in them are liberal

2018-06-03 12:32:37 UTC

Left wing politician have negative caption pictures, are they up? I haven seen any.

2018-06-03 12:33:26 UTC

like if you're forming a company in san francisco regardless of what that company does or sells it's going to have to have a liberal bias by default simply because the people that comprise the company are so much more likely to be liberals.

2018-06-03 12:34:03 UTC

Sure.

2018-06-03 12:34:04 UTC

Thatโ€™s exactly right

2018-06-03 12:34:05 UTC

i haven't seen any either, but i don't think that these knowledge panels are created by humans

2018-06-03 12:34:31 UTC

they might be occasionally glanced at by humans to make sure they're more or less sane, but not created

2018-06-03 12:36:01 UTC

it also appears as if her wikipedia entry was vandalized recently https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Trudy_Wade&action=history

2018-06-03 12:36:04 UTC

If that were true it seems like we would see more events like this with all kinds of captions. Funny that this is the one that slips though the cracks.

2018-06-03 12:36:57 UTC

Yeah, people are messing with this on the Wikipedia end.

2018-06-03 12:38:59 UTC

the wikipedia edit seems to have been after the google knowledge panel caption was noticed

2018-06-03 12:39:33 UTC

maybe the bigot image was googlebombed to the top

2018-06-03 12:40:53 UTC

should be an easy fix for google's algorithm though. google can easily detect text in an image and reject it.

2018-06-03 12:44:39 UTC

speaking to the larger issue of bias in tech firms, one trend that might help is the skyrocketing cost of living in california. given how mature communications technology is today there's no good reason to keep all your developers physically in the same city, and there are tons of economic incentives to moving to less population dense areas.

2018-06-03 12:45:35 UTC

if you have to have an office, why not have it in utah? or rural texas? and why not let devs from all over the country work remotely?

2018-06-03 12:46:05 UTC

it'll save money, and break up a lot of the group-think.

2018-06-03 12:47:52 UTC

of course the trend in tech firms isn't telecommuting but building company towns. basically slave plantations for H1Bs where they work a few hundred meters from where they eat and sleep.

2018-06-03 12:49:59 UTC

so i'm not optimistic that telecommuting will change the big firms (the left put a lot of effort into capturing them and aren't going to give that up easily). but smaller firms are not going to build traditional offices in california simply because they can't afford it anymore.

2018-06-03 13:43:16 UTC

lol I watched that Rip'n Chicken review. I have to watch it again now to try to determine why it could possibly have been flagged.

2018-06-03 13:43:28 UTC

He's so completely harmless.

2018-06-03 13:43:36 UTC

Like Mr. Rogers tier harmless.

2018-06-03 13:51:09 UTC

I don't agree that there is no reason at all to keep all your staff in the same city, I work for a large corp and we have 3 large offices around the same city and even that 1 hour travel time between the offices can make it difficult to have productive meetings, and when your team is larger than about 10 people everyone jumping onto a video conf can still be less than productive, just watch any online debate of more than 5-6 people and it can turn into a shitfight

2018-06-03 13:55:01 UTC

in such large voice conferences, have software that has one person in control of the meeting who can enable or disable the microphones of others. there's no need to interrupt or interject. people at the meeting should be listening to what each other are saying, not looking for an opportunity to take control of the conversation.

2018-06-03 13:55:24 UTC

but most communication doesn't need to use such a format.

2018-06-03 13:55:54 UTC

if it's a 2-4 way conversation there's no need for such formality, and there might not be any need for voice at all.

2018-06-03 13:57:00 UTC

i just think it's silly that companies that are ostensibly dedicated to new communication mediums are addicted to face-to-face conversations and refuse to use new technologies.

2018-06-03 13:57:21 UTC

what you're talking about is for presentations, if there's people in the meeting with no input to provide they're wasting their time being there

2018-06-03 13:59:06 UTC

so if you go into it saying everyone's mic is disabled you're basically saying their input isn't needed... if you go to a school room raise your hand to talk then meetings are very slow and take longer than they need

2018-06-03 13:59:53 UTC

not saying their input isn't needed, but that they can and should wait a few minutes to give it instead of interrupting someone else

2018-06-03 14:01:07 UTC

might just be my personal preference, but i hate listening to debates where people keep interrupting each other

2018-06-03 14:01:26 UTC

impossible for someone to get a complete thought out before someone else forcibly interjects.

2018-06-03 14:03:25 UTC

but already you're describing something that wouldn't happen in a normal conversation.... some people need to be interrupted, they're overly verbose or go off on tangents, i see it all the time no one in the room cares what the person is saying because its irrelevant to the topic

2018-06-03 14:06:21 UTC

I've been good friends of about 10 years with the guy I now work for he's always spending 15 minutes covering something that should take 5, everyone knows it, he knows it so people interrupt and say yeah we all get it, next topic

2018-06-03 14:07:01 UTC

but when I dial into the meeting, that's hard if not impossible to do because you can't read the room and see if people do in fact get it

2018-06-03 14:07:32 UTC

yeah, that's why there's one person in charge of the meeting who controls the mics

2018-06-03 14:07:57 UTC

yeah, its the manager of the team who has the problem, so not a good solution

2018-06-03 14:08:42 UTC

well, i'd say a bigger problem is forcing developers to live in trailers because they can't afford rent where the meetings are held

2018-06-03 14:09:47 UTC

yeah that doesn't happen where I live, the opposite is true we don't have enough desks for everyone to work from the office, housing isn't a premium but office space

2018-06-03 14:10:50 UTC

i'm not talking about where you live then. i'm talking about where all the big tech firms are located where the cost of living is ridiculous.

2018-06-03 14:14:40 UTC

my original point was that big tech firms have an inordinate amount of control over media, and that they are biased ideologically because their employees are all from one or two extremely liberal cities. the argument i was trying to make was that the cost of living in these cities might force the companies to disperse geographically, thereby alleviating some of the ideological bias.

2018-06-03 14:15:28 UTC

teleconferencing technology is just something that enables that. i'm not advocating that everyone everywhere should only teleconference.

2018-06-03 14:19:54 UTC

as an example, reddit. reddit has 230 employees, and their office is in san francisco. now there's a certain number of those employees that have to be there physically because there is hardware they have to work on. but there's a lot of those employees that really have no need to cart their meat into a physical office. the labor they do can be just as easily done from anywhere else, and it would be a cost savings for everyone involved if they worked remotely.

chicken is racist

2018-06-03 15:05:37 UTC

some people arent doing as well... and some of those people not doing well are not white... therefore racism... its so clear to me now

2018-06-03 15:14:15 UTC

Typical democrats. Enslaving their voters while whispering in their ear that they're winning. So devious.

2018-06-03 15:16:20 UTC

Speaking of inflated pricing and mortgages, I think we're due another recession. Been almost ten years since the last crash.

2018-06-03 15:16:44 UTC

nooooo I just bought ๐Ÿ˜›

2018-06-03 15:17:01 UTC

so did my friend, in Las Vegas of all places. rip.

2018-06-03 15:17:12 UTC

anyway the cycle goes wage inflation first, then boom, then recession

2018-06-03 15:17:47 UTC

we're certainly seeing that here in Seattle.

2018-06-03 15:17:49 UTC

so i think we're in the wage inflation cycle... you need confidence before a recession happens... otherwise they are too prepared for it

2018-06-03 15:18:36 UTC

if everyone thinks there is going to be a recession.. then companies prepare for it.. and then it doesnt happen

2018-06-03 15:18:49 UTC

which is why so many lose out in a recession

2018-06-03 15:19:41 UTC

Well they prepare for it by cutting jobs, which has its own impact.

2018-06-03 15:20:52 UTC

Theres always money in the banana stand

2018-06-03 16:19:23 UTC

but... what if both sides are genocidal maniacs, that just don't agree who they want to get rid of?

2018-06-03 16:19:57 UTC

How does this guy make a living?

2018-06-03 17:24:12 UTC

Perhaps the Popeyes review guy is guilty of appropriating Korean culture by doing a mukbang. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

2018-06-03 21:05:43 UTC

huffington post doxes the shit out of a person

2018-06-03 21:06:00 UTC

Vee just did a good video on that

2018-06-03 21:17:00 UTC

do these people not realise if they spout this stuff all over media, other countries will not take them seriously in negotiations.... are they trying to tank america? https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/1003248684589617152?s=20

2018-06-03 21:17:39 UTC

I mean one tweet is nothing... but if they get a narrative going.. for long enough...

2018-06-03 23:04:45 UTC

On a different note, the Tim cast would be ranked quite high in Indians cast system ;)

2018-06-03 23:18:40 UTC

is this monetized/restricted? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25ZBUtItCYE

2018-06-03 23:28:51 UTC

No ads but plays fine

2018-06-03 23:29:48 UTC

imagine nearly 14m views and no monetisation ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

2018-06-03 23:31:57 UTC

I just tried a few times just now... might have been monetized before.

2018-06-03 23:55:40 UTC

I'm getting ads what you guys on about

2018-06-03 23:57:36 UTC

nice.. I was wondering if it got ads... since its about "making guns"

2018-06-04 04:51:25 UTC

I just got a survey on it

2018-06-04 07:44:02 UTC

Definitely ads on that video, got 2 in a row

2018-06-04 13:27:07 UTC

so

2018-06-04 13:27:20 UTC

with the ruling on twitter

2018-06-04 13:27:32 UTC

can I just tweet anything to any publicly elected official in the states

2018-06-04 13:27:37 UTC

and if they block me

2018-06-04 13:27:39 UTC

it's illegal

2018-06-04 13:27:39 UTC

?

2018-06-04 13:29:13 UTC

technically

2018-06-04 13:29:21 UTC

but no one is going to enforce anything anyway

2018-06-04 13:30:38 UTC

bummer

2018-06-04 14:11:24 UTC

I cant tweet at all, since Twitter "thinks" I'm a bot just because I follow conservatives

2018-06-04 14:11:33 UTC

even tho I confirmed my phone number and email twice

2018-06-04 14:13:05 UTC
2018-06-04 14:19:31 UTC

shoo

2018-06-04 14:21:00 UTC

@Ivanfr should call up twitter and be like "do i sound like a bot to you?"

2018-06-04 14:21:21 UTC

although you would probably get a robo-answering system #irony

2018-06-04 14:21:37 UTC

Twitter is ran by SJWs

2018-06-04 14:21:59 UTC

naw, its run by cowards with no spines

2018-06-04 14:22:01 UTC

None of the data they have about my account looks like a bot
