the electoral college is simultaneously a very good and a very wack thing

I would call the US

a half-democracy

almost all states are winner-take-all

there are like 1 or 2 states that are ratio based

also electors can technically vote freely but I don't think they ever really do, pretty sure most states have repercussions if they do

depends on the election grenade

some years it'd be virtually meaningless

some years it would fuck shit up

it might actually change that substantially

because electoral votes to population would be roughly equal across the entire country

so campaigning would be roughly balanced

it would also mean that traditionally blue/red states would get at least a little bit more campaigning

so they could at least win some votes
