@here Reminder for our cluster meeting tomorrow December 8th at 10pm est (or whenever the NNM ends which is at 9pm est).

We will not do a separate action report segment from the NNM, but we will discuss our experiences with the national as a cluster. We can discuss things we should have done different travel wise for instance, so this will be a time for reflection and solution brainstorming. It will also be a good time to discuss our plans for the month ahead.

Only thing I really feel the need to add about the march has to do with the shield thing, specifically to expound on Benjamin's issue. Last night I spoke to a guy who was on the big shield team. He said that all the big "weightlifting guys" were put in the front and back. I'm assuming that most of those guys are experienced shield bearers. Logic would dictate that the left and right flank teams were comprised mainly of inexperienced shield guys. What would help in the future is more intensive training for all the guys new to that role. From what I understand it sounds like they didn't really know what to do in the event of an aggressive individual getting too close but not yet attempting to strike anyone. Being as I'm just a flag guy I don't know the intricacies of all that so whoever is reading this and does know just take what I said and apply the non ignorant parts.

As far as shield team goes:
I was told yesterday by Vincent TX to study Shield/Drill practices for next event. I asked him where I could access this, he said our local drill instructor, who he said would be our ND. I asked Ryan Ohio, he no longer has access to this, he said to ask Thomas. I asked Thomas, he said those practices/tutorials are not readily available to people broadly speaking.

That is all to say- we need a drill instructor for our cluster. I can't learn our particular drill and shield team policies without it.

I understand why they keep that info need-to-know, but if we don't have a drill instructor then guys like me can't learn shield team policy and strategy. I'm glad I was there when that leftist went after Benjamin (cop didn't do anything until I caught up to Ben to block the protestor) but I want to be even better prepared next time

I think we have at least 4 guys who could do shields but no one to teach us. Also the camera guys might benefit from having their own shield guy becuase theyre isolated and vulnerable to attck

They did tell us that if we want to go a little away from the group, we can tell a shield guy or 2 to come with. I think letting the shield guys know to their role is important, if a photo guy needs a guy or two, go with them. If the march is going on and a guy gets hurt and has to stay a bit with the medic, they WILL need shield guys.

If I know I want to go out a bit from the crowd, ill be sure to grab a guy or two. We were all told this by Thomas and Mason. There should be a a guy in MI who has access to the drills. I can think of a few guys who I would consider "shield guys", and should practice.

I'm sure we all understand this. There were a lot of new guys on auxiliary shields, im willing to bet some of them thought they would be for aesthetics only, or for a very limited role

I will ask Thomas about this when i next speak with him in mumble.
