(He says casually as if he hasn't already said this dozens of times in this server)
Storable food (20 year shelf life):
Augason Farms Basic Emergency Food Pail (1,220 calories/day ~ $70, 523 cal/$) = <https://www.samsclub.com/sams/af-basic-30d-pail/prod21271370.ip>
Augason Farms Emergency Food Supply Pail (1,822 calories/day ~ $95, 575 cal/$) = <https://www.samsclub.com/sams/af-30-day-basic-food/prod20380167.ip>
Just watch out for soy in some 9f those products. I do buy that brand for emergency rations and snacks in the car, but the meats have soy....
Compared to what? Compared to other storable food options, there's no additional soy. Ingredients list here: <https://theepicenter.com/augason-farms-ingredients-nutrition>
A common suggestion for storable food is Mountain House, but they are way expensive.
There's also Backpacker's Pantry, which is also pricey
Check out Alex Jones stuff that is rebranded My Patriot Supply
I have My Patriot Supply (purchased from InfoWars). Augason Farms is cheaper.
You're probably paying more for the brand
"Augason FDA Approved Industrial Nutrition Slop"
You're probably paying for food that isn't disgusting, as well
No, I'm talking about the Alex Jones shit
There's no reason why Infowars food would be particularly good quality
I think Auguson is available through Walmart as well
@Jacob if comparing Alex to others that are freeze dried, per calorie it's pretty good and not slop, just better packaged cheap stuff.
Augason, and many others, rely on beans a great deal, which is good, but not what I'd prefer in a meal, pound for pound, it isn't my preference. Have ordered Alex stuff and it's not garbage. Have eaten it as an alternative to groceries when unemployed for 6 months. No matter what you get, food storage is a great emergency investment.
This forklift. This thing is crazy reliable! Every time I drive it I think, "there's no way something this old works this good".
Do you ever worry about breathing in random chemicals?
Nah. The tote I'm filling is just water and before that it was seed oil, but I'm mostly just amazed by this forklift. I'm moving 250 gal water totes over muddy ground and this thing just doesn't care.
In case anyone is wondering what we use seed oil for it goes in our sprayers to help with crop absorption and prevent evaporation loss of other chemicals. The medical treatment for accidental consumption is to drink 2 large glasses of water.
Case and I think it's a 62 or 63.
That's sweet. We used to have this old Case tractor that was a 70s model, it was a beast. We also had a Ford that was a 70s model too both were great. But they didn't take the abuse you put on a tractor. Most tobacco is done by hand, so besides plowing they were just used to pull wagons.
They really don't make things like they used too. I was headed down to the Perryville battlefield on Saturday and I saw more than 1 really old tractors still being used to tend fields. It was a beautiful thing.
Looking for a new garden hose and hose reel. In searching for a reel I came across this site: https://www.eleyhosereels.com/collections/garden-hose-reels/products/free-standing-garden-hose-reel
Any recommendations? Does this look unusually expensive, or just the white price?
@Ben - OH For your consideration: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-garden-hose/
@Ben - OH after having one of these I won’t go back to a regular hose. https://get.expandablehoses.com/expandable-hoses-1/?cmp_id=1510653570&adg_id=61834864207&kwd=%2Bexpanding%20%2Bhose&device=m&gclid=CjwKCAjw8O7bBRB0EiwAfbrThwzJJmR6KuN39N2V5GCxCcMA1GthLBxrk4U06bl3Ko_-q4iueKucqhoCxzkQAvD_BwE
@JesseJames Very interesting, how long have you had one?
I had a lower quality one for a few years and broke it. So I found that one and I’ve had it for about a year it is really good quality.
Cool, does it work well with a reel?
I’m sure. I just put mine in my car wash bucket never gets tangled or anything.
I am sure you could wrap it around a reel just fine
Buoyant sunglasses?

@Matthias I've seen this same basic thing in walmart that say they float in water made by piranha (I can't spell it)
@Tanner - SC I have some MREs that I'd sell
If anyone wanted those for emergency supply
@Tanner - SC or anyone else...if you work for a retailer...there are ways to get huge discounts on mountain house. There is an app you can be invited to called ExpertVoice
You tell them what your interested in and you get a profile of companies that give you discounts when you learn about their products, and take a little test...most items are at cost or close to it, and they change from time to time, but MH has been on there as long as I've been on it.
The catch is that you have to ship everything to work. We don't even sell half the brands that honor us with deals, they like that people who are involved in using their stuff are evangelists for them.
@Freiheit - CA do you know if the brands can limit how much they send or choose geographic regions? Basically If I sign up do I have to send 100,000 samples out?
