Hi. My coordinator was Eric @givemetheafd
My name is Kyle and Iโm from California
@The Good Goy#1759 thanks for asking. Iโve got nearly the same build as you and started right around October as well.
Iโve been trying to eat as much protein as I can, but I was avoiding carbs somewhat, so I guess Iโll stop doing that.
I recently discovered that I might be lactose intolerant, so that has been fairly problematic.
Haha! Love the one right next to โOur Placeโ! Nice job @Valaska
Yeah, how come I didnโt get a badge ๐
@Deleted User I understand Body Fat calipers are better, but is one of those scales still useful?
Ok
Article wonโt load for me ๐ฉ
Iโm having trouble getting gains. How much should I be hoping for in a month? I seem to be stuck at 150 lbs no matter what I do
Not fat, just not really gaining weight.
@Nick-NJ I weigh 153 right now. Iโm not following a program. I just have a set of adjustable dumbbells and a bench right now. I lift 3 times a week, rotating between muscle groups.
Ok. I am keeping track of my weight numbers, but I will look into a program.
I will also look into tracking my caloric intake.
I donโt have a barbell ๐ฉ
This is what I have for the moment.
Maybe Iโll get a barbell this summer, but for now I have to make do with what I got.
Ok, dumb question. Is there a right time of day to weigh yourself or does it only matter that you do the same time every day?
Hey goys, I'm new to crypto and looking to set up a BTC wallet. Any of you use Coinbase? If not, what do you recommend?
Ok, @ThisIsChris , thanks. I was a little confused when I read the pinned posts: โDo not trust any online wallet serviceโ
But Coinbase looks pretty trustworthy and powerful
Thanks! Iโll go with Coinbase then!
@Phillip Wiglesworth - FL you make a good point. I listen to a lot and it might not always be good... but Fash The Nation is amazing. You should consider listening to it.
@Deleted User I would also be interested in the job description when you have it. Youโre in Pennsylvania, right?
๐ค
I cannot tell if you are being serious @ThisIsChris
I simply donโt know enough about this stuff
Is this for real? ๐ http://sufferfestbeer.com/en/blog/posts/sufferfest/announcing-new-fkt-pale-ale
Anyone heard of โLove & Logicโ? Iโve heard a lot of good things about it for a few years, but my wife and I just got the book a couple months ago.
So far itโs lived up to most of the hype, but itโs still early and I gotta finish the book. ๐
Anyone here heard of asktrim.com? Itโs apparently an AI bot that will negotiate down your internet bill (among other things) for a cut of your savings. I just set it up and it appears like it will save me about $14/mo.
I canโt help but feel like Comcast and AskTrim are conspiring to raise the rates behind the scenes, though.
Not to mention it requires connecting your bank account and a credit card.
@Grossly Incandescent Sorry, were you talking to me? Yeah, Iโll try to summarize the methodology. Itโs called โLove and Logicโ but you could also call it โEmpathy and Natural Consequencesโ, itโs just not as catchy. Basically, you make sure you administer all discipline with a healthy dose of empathy so youโre not the bad guy. And discipline should be natural consequences as much as possible.
Hey, has anyone here changed careers using a 'code bootcamp'? Or is anyone a front-end web developer? I want to get a new job as a web developer this summer.
Cool @VinceChaos. I've been doing that for a few years now, but wasn't really taking it seriously. Now I'm doing a code bootcamp. What courses are you doing? Codecademy? W3Schools?
Nice. I haven't heard of Odin Project, SoloLearn or Upskill! I'll check them out!
The bootcamp I'm doing rn is $200/mo. but it's self-paced. I'm hoping to finish it in 3 months and then start applying for jobs lol
Treehouse. They have what they call a "TechDegree" for front end web development.
There's also one for full-stack if that's your thing, or iOS, too, I think.
A friend of mine is a web developer and he says the projects in this program are representative of the real world, so I'm confident I'll get a job when I'm done
If you do, I can refer you for a discount, I think
Good to hear @ThisIsChris ! Do you know anyone that did Treehouse, specifically?
Ok. Yeah, Treehouse does that. And like I said, a friend of mine said he thinks it represents real world work.
Iโm gonna be disappointed if the starting salary isnโt more than that here, though. That would actually be a pay cut for me ๐ and Iโm a teacher
Looking at indeed and paysa, Iโm hopeful.
Sorry, lotta questions to answer. In order:
1. "Here" is San Jose.
2. I fell into teaching and I'm not crazy about it. Also, I'm at a private school, which doesn't necessarily mean high salary (you'd assume that, but it's not always the case). Most importantly: no pension.
3. Yes, I'm interested in CS now. Hindsight being 20-20, I definitely got the wrong degree: Music Business/Technology. I just was never exposed to CS or didn't think I could do it.
4. A Masters in CS isn't really an option; schools won't consider a BA good enough.
@VinceChaos I've always been a little put-off by that learntocodewith.me site. That's the podcast you're referring to, right?
But I've never listened to her podcast. It's good, you say?
Ok @ThisIsChris . Hmm. Well, we'll see what happens. I teach web dev anyway, so this program isn't terribly expensive as a form of professional development.
Another thing to consider: In my current position my salary isn't likely to grow much, if at all. Meanwhile, the salaries as a web dev _start_ maybe a bit below what I make now and grow far above whatever I'll ever make in my current employment.
