Doesn't really help much. In order to mount a defense they'd need money to buy weapons. Not merely rifles but ATGMs and MANPADs. In order to earn that money they'd need to keep their farms in operation. Keeping their farms in operation would mean keeping them staffed, which means their forces are spread all over the country and can be killed peacemeal. There's no military solution here. They should just leave.
