Just don't muddy up my well-designed and carefully orchestrated plan.
I’m sitting in the doctors office and the nurse was Mexican and couldn’t ask some of the questions in English and asked me if I knew Spanish 😡 so I told her I’d like to have an English speaking nurse to check me in because when it comes to health it’s important that there’s no language barrier which could result in a misdiagnose. I’m going to write a letter to the head of the clinic when I get home to complain
@Why Tea With rumors of a concern local "white" conclave in the mix...oy vey what immediate levels of attention from the faculty to the matter would that bring? If you think it's too bold then say so & I'll follow your lead. I'm just spitballing.
More calls can't hurt, I don't think, we just don't want to have it come across as brigading or in any way insincere. They asked for my name at all three offices, I explained I was an alum, what year, and so forth. There's *weight* to that.
I'm curious what "spokesperson" already has word that they aren't going to do anything since neither the HR nor Dean's office knew about it yet.
The Philosophy department had already gotten calls, a number of calls.
Agreed, genuine concern from alums is heavier than a stranger calling.
I don't know who his faculty advisor is, for something like this that person may try to dig in their heels on it on some sort of freeze peach / private thoughts "principle" but I'm not going to let 'em if I can help it.
If *anyone* calls please stick to the facts, of course we'll all be polite. I gave them my *name* so let's all be cool.
I bet email would also be effective
My wife also has her Masters degree from the same college at the University so she'll be calling and emailing too, and I'm going to tell my best friend, who *also* has a degree from that same college, and a couple of other people I know too.
I don't know how many people have hit 'em up "in person" on the phone like that, but I know my wife and I and my friend all give them money every year.
I’m going to call and say I’m from the SPLC
dude they have caller ID.
lmao
Please tell me this is real.
@Jacob You said "I support freedom of association in principle, obviously, but the current situation that we're in largely exists because liberals are still able to flee from diversity." I won't counter-argue because I agree with you, especially short term. Making liberals "eat their own dog food" is one way to get them to realize their ideas and ideals don't work.
ya basically
and that wasn't really directed towards you, I totally understand trying to move the conversation out of cyberstrike
It was more regarding people who post their little emojis but don't actually give a reason. It's silly and immature, to be honest.
lol I mean I like emojis too in the right context
So long as there are private schools, the rich kids won't have to feel the effects of integration
@Why Tea I’m just curious what it be helpful at all if I made the call from Salt Lake City Utah having never attended that University?
@TMatthews ya, that's the thing
Us regular people have to deal with the policies anyway. The people pushing the policies don't.
Just got an exciting email about scholarships from my university! Too bad that the scholarships are for “DREAMers” aka illegal aliens who entered the country as kids.
@Chris N. - CA post screen shot
Sure wish I could get more scholarships as someone who graduated high school with a 4.3 GPA. But nope! I’m too white.
DM me a screen shot and I'll post it around
Of the email? Sure, I’ll just cross out identifying info.
Sounds good
👍
@Grayson That's the thing, right? It's a balance between "this guy is shit optics for our organization" countered with "why do I care if it's someone from Utah who isn't a student, parent, or donor?"
Sweden now has a minority government with the Social Democrats and Greens, relying on the support of two centrist parties, and a former communist party. The supporters of the two centrist parties are fuming, and Social Democrats' supporters are angry as well. Sweden is in a state of acceleration and will see the center dissolve in the 2022 elections.
The fact that every other party would rather compromise their principles for a grand coalition than let the "far right" have any influence will only strengthen the Sweden Democrats' claim that they're the only real opposition
@Chris N. - CA I remember walking into the scholarship office in high school and 95% of them where for diversity or volunteering instead of hard work and merit, that was around when my already strained patience began to fray
I fondly remember when they were based on merit and I got two because I'm a smartypants.
I graduated with a 4.3 GPA and only ended up getting $500 per semester in scholarship money for my current university. Couldn't end up going to an Ivy, either, since there was no way to pay for it despite my grades and other achievements.
Feels bad, man.
This type of stuff can really hurt sometimes. Fortunately, fellowships for grad school are a lot more merit-based.
The academic elite are an exception, but if you're a young white man, consider the trades
