When you're like getting Muffalos or Cows, and chicken, and you need hay grass to feed them... holy shit, your colony collapses.
Sowing and harvesting is totally out of balance.

I decided that after playing four colonies that collapsed quickly, I needed to cheat myself some extra food and steel.
Only "cheat" I use is the roombas mod.

It's a PC game, so the gates are wide open for all sorts of things.
I never felt like I needed more starting supplies.
Bottleneck has always been uninterested pawns.
At least the "I can't do shit" pawns are good bait for attacks.
What I like about it is how it's a strategy game where you don't have to worry much about micro management of everything.
I like these sort of games, they feel more real.
I wish Stellaris would be more like that.

I think the whole "planet tiles building mechanic" doesn't belongs to the game.

My problem with rim world was just getting going, seems things go wrong really quickly.
I got raided, one I had a solar panel blow up and burn everything down, once there was a nonstop heat wave that killed everybody
Heat waves are easy to handle if you have wood.
Another mod that you might want is the maintenance one. So shit stops breaking all the fucking time.
And it gives your builders something to do.
