Funny

What book are we on?
Why We Fight
Where are we on it and when do we meet?
I read why we fight awhile back
@Deleted User feel free to join our discussion. I believe we are moving our discussion days to Monday, but we'll confirm that this weekend.
Sounds good
@Daniel Turch We'll be up to "Modernity" Sunday or Monday
Okay I'll try to catch up
@ANACHR0N1SM you're all set! Welcome to ILC.
We are allowed to post non-copyrighted PDF's and text links correct?
That is correct. So long as it's not copyrighted, you can post.
I'm going to dump every Greek and Roman text ever
You have been warned
If you were ever interesting in learning Latin or Greek, hereโs a bunch of resources
All public domain
If anyone wants help with Latin I can assist as well
@StrawberryArmada Iโm a student of history but unfortunately have not had the luxury of going to a school with a good classics program. For simple biographies on Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar, what books would you recommend? Iโve been scared to buy one and it end up being revised by modern (((academia)))
Hmm
Only works on Caesar I've read were actually his own but
Plutarch
Wrote a biography of Alexander
Naturally it isn't (((modified))) since its two thousand years old
Of course the biographers of Rome didn't have the archeological resources we do, but they lived closer to the time of Alexander
Plutarch also wrote a biography on Caesar
Which is excellent because he lived right after Caesar
You can find and read both of these for free probably
So you won't lose any money if you don't like them
Don't worry about classics degrees. I didn't even finish my tbh. If it were up to me all young gentlemen would receive a classical education as they did for the past few hundred years
If I find copies tomorrow I'll put them in history
@StrawberryArmada Thanks for the info. Iโve become more of a modern Europeanist. Currently starting a 30-50 page essay on Pan-European nationalism
I would recommend Mosley but
You clearly already know him well
Same
I just started Hwite Identity and all I hear is Jaredโs voice in my head
@DeusVolk
Both of these are absolute gems!

Yes.
I had trouble pushing through the political dictionary parts though. Something about the endless definitions drains you as you push through. I actually think itโs a big flaw.
Lol loved both videos!!!๐คฃ๐๐ค
@SamanthaM I thoroughly enjoyed those.
I feel like this server doesn't have high enough traffic to justify the massive number of channels. It's kind of daunting. We could probably just have the Book of the Month club and like Fiction and Non-Fiction discussion and that's it tbh
i think a lot of the channels are just there to give book recs by category - not necessarily to have discussions
Yeah, the purpose of the multi channels is to categorize book recommendations.
@this_that5553 The category specific channels are supposed to be slow. They should be easy to scroll through. The idea is to *not* have thousands of messages to go through when you're just looking for a book recommendation.
Whatโs up with these?
Sorry, I just never know what are the channels that I should generally care about
The "book of the month" channel is redundant, fair enough
As for the other ones, just click on them and find out
@this_that5553 IE Reading List is a working progress. Book of the Month is for announcing the book of the month and any important information that might go with that. Resources are self defined. General is for voice chat. Discussion BOTM is for our discussions that happen weekly. General is general chat. Goodreads is a website that connects other readers and their literature. TIR stands for Today I Read. Post anything new you've read or learned. Vote BOTM is for voting in the book of the month.
To better organize this, I just might make a category for BOTM.
Iโd appreciate the new category @CarletonJ that way if youโre participating you know what is relevant immediately
Sure. Thanks for the suggestion.
@Jacob not trying to be a bitch. Just want to give my feedback in case others thought the same
No it's fine
I'll have to wait until I'm at my office. I cannot move channels or categories from mobile.
Would you well-read lads say that a book a week is a good goal?
Definitely
I feel like my cognitive abilities are deteriorating as time goes on. Would reading weekly help with this?
It takes me a couple weeks usually to read anything
Technically, 30 minutes of reading a day should be your bare minimum no matter what speed. I'd shoot for an hour and gauge your reading quota based on that. Better to be a slow reader who thoroughly digests what he reads than a reader who has something to prove by reading the entire library of congress and not retaining anything.
@DavidOrlando#5630 I'll get you and Olivia set up when I get home
