We're working on some better concoctions to deal with injuries from bear mace, acid, and bleach.
Our own ambulance service would be a good idea too, with a truck/van waiting to medevac someone to the nearest hospital.
Would save our guys a good bit of cash too
From a logistics perspective if doing a big event like cville I agree Wiley.
@Erika can you have someone post your mace remedy in the medic lessons thread?
@Deleted User I'll write it up tonight and send it to whoever has the ability to post in that channel.
I need that dmed to me also if you can thanks! @Erika
@Louis Loire - NY absolutely!
I'm trying to find a cheap small bag guys can buy without sweating it. Any ideas on what we need in them? So far:
2x large gauze
1x tourniquet
1x bottle of saline
1x bottle of pepper spray remedy
5x 4x4 gauze
1x coban
1x tape
1x medical sheers
2x Cold packs
Bandaids
Sanitizer wipes
Alcohol preps
Anything else you guys can think of for first responders in the crowd?
I can tell you one thing, with the amount of pepper spray I had to treat at Cville, a lot of gauze is needed. I was using so much and I didn't even treat any bloody wounds.
ab pads or 5x9s work well for wiping off the solution and having a soaked pad to leave the patient
^ absolutely
4x4s and cut strips of 4" gauze rolls also worked well for me
Any doctors, PA's, RN's, or radiology professionals who would know enough about my calcaneus x-ray to tell me what it looks like to them?
@here โ๐ป
I'm horrified at what my surgeon told me today >.<
The surgeon will know more than me and most here so id recommend listening to your team
Oh I am for sure, he just made it sound like I'm doomed if I don't do this or this or this, etc
@Phillip Wiglesworth - FL what did he say? If you're comfortable sharing.
He might be saying avoiding surgery will lead to futher complications and permanent injury
I'd do the surgery avoid future pain
basically that.
Yeah I'd do the surgery its not worth trying to avoid it esp if the bone damage is bad
my calcaneus is broken all the way through, that much is really obvious from the x-rays. and since my ER visit, it's spreading further apart due to achilles tendon pulling on it. so now there's a sharp edge from the fracture poking up into the ankle joint, which will cause traumatic arthritis if I don't get surgery, he said
I cracked my hip when I was 18 and didn't get the recommended surgery wish I did thing still hurts sometimes
Yeah get the surgery that injury sounds like it will only get worse
Not something to fuck with
my foot is super swollen right now, with some pitting edema...so he can't do the surgery for a few weeks until that goes away
Untill then obey all directions given
so ya basically, I'm confined to my bed with my foot elevated above my heart. and bored watching movies lol
If you're gonna be in the rwds, you have to be able to use your feet๐
I guess my concern outright is that since it's worker's comp, I've been told sometimes doctors dealing with worker's comp cases basically just do what the worker's comp ins people tell them to do b/c it's such a pain in the ass for them to fight for what SHOULD be done
Have any of you looked into using x-rays for wound treatment
It would be very valuable in a situation where antibiotics were difficult to obtain
I would think that if antibiotics were difficult to obtain, x-rays would be even moreso.
No all u need is a battery
A small solar panel could obtain charge for a dozen or more treatments a day and a battery could hold hundreds
Small x Ray generators exist about the size of a large smartphone
You only need 50kV or less for surface treatments
@Deleted User , Spencer & co will be at the University of Florida on September 12.
@Deleted User looking forward to seeing y'all again! I'll be there, and I'm assembling a Florida EMS squad. Hopefully less pepper spray and more cops doing their job this time
Really looking forward to medical lessons. I'm sure IE has at least a couple nurses, or perhaps a doctor to teach us
I'm typing up the how to deal with defensive sprays guide right now. Hopefully I'll have it done tonight. The most common medical issue we seemingly have to deal with at events right now is getting pepper sprayed, so really, everyone should be prepared to know how to deal with it
Here's a lesson, if you're ever feeling soft on the euthanasia question, do a ride along on an ambulance. It's been a rough night.
Ugh. Sorry brother
@everyone
Here's my "how to" guide of how to manage a patient who has been pepper sprayed, tear gassed, or sprayed with household cleaning products.

Feel free to post in <#339425301434204170>, if you have the permission to do so.
May someone repost that in PDF format
Google docs tracks you
@Erika Thank you for this very good information
@Erika pin this
I'm a pleb. I can't pin anything.
Glad I got lasik don't have to wear contacts anymore
Thanks
Apparently, at Cville someone told another attendee that contact lenses protect your eyes from pepper spray and what not. I have no clue who told that person that info, but it's a retarded and dangerous statement to make. I highly recommend just wearing glasses to activism events.
^^
Yeah, sometimes bringing people back from an arrest isn't really doing them any favors..... But, we do it..... uggghhhh
Jack you want a gas mask with a nato filter will be easier to find replacements plus its a far better mask
@here Hey guys I have a question and I was wondering if you guys could help. My dad isn't well and I'm not sure how serious it is or if he should see a doctor. He had been working all morning and was finishing up when he was suddenly struck with extremely intense dizziness. He couldn't even stand up. He had been absolutely fine before then. Thinking it might be really low blood sugar (it was 2 pm and he hadn't eaten since the day before) my mom made him drink some juice. After about 20 minutes he made it inside but only with my moms help. He said he was really tired and laid down and then immediately started violently throwing up. He said he was cold and then fell into a really deep sleep and has been sleeping for awhile now. He's a big tough guy so this is very strange for him. Obviously google is no help and I'm really worried. Any ideas what it could be or what steps we can take? Any signs of it being serious? Sorry for the length, just trying to be as detailed as I can...
Could it be heat related? It looks like some of the symptoms are related to heat exhaustion/stroke. I'm not an expert but in my opinion it wouldn't hurt to contact a doctor and see what they think.
I thought that, but it was really abnormally cool outside. He works outside all the time in heat with no effect like this. You're probably right, it's just hard getting him to go to the doctor.
Interesting. Well I hope you can get him checked out and everything is alright!
Thanks, @Ike#5340 ๐
@Louis Loire - NY @Deleted User โ๐ป
Bring him to the drs
Sounds like a case of vertigo
Could be from a number of causes but best not to take any chances with an older person
@Leah - VA take him to ER now
That's very concerning for cardiac
Rule of thumb is any condition that dose not improve with time should be taken seriously
@Leah - VA when you can, please confirm you got that. Feel free to dm any further questions if you want.
Thank you both so much. You've really helped so much and I've passed it all on to my parents.
Thank you @Deleted User for notification btw
@Deleted User @Louis Loire - NY haha no thank you guys for the quick response! It's like our own little virtual 911 lol

Any time, that shits scary
About a week ago I turned my ankle on a rock while hiking. The outer park of my foot banged into another rock. For the last week it has hurt to walk. The weird thing is there are no bruises or swelling. The pain is mostly local but occassionally I will have some shooting pain in my foot. Do anyone have any idea what's wrong?
@Louis Loire - NY @Deleted User โ๐ป
Should have iced and heated it as soon as this happened
Might want to try an ace bandage
You hyper extend the ligaments and tendons in your ankle. It'll take about a month or two to stop hurting. Your ankle will always be easier to roll from now on though. If it's not swelling, no need to really elevate or ice. Just stay off of it as much as possible and let it heal.
Take some ibuprofen as needed. Don't exceed 1600 mg a day, can cause gastrointestinal problems.
@Deleted User thanks. I think I should have specified the pain is related to the outer part of my foot i banged on the rock rather than my ankle itself. Not sure if that changes your thoughts
Probably just a bone bruise then, should heal in the same amount of time.
Bruise with some nerve impingement
Rest, ice twice per day, if sitting keep.elevated if possible
Some nsaid as well ok, ibuprofen 800 three times a day or naproxen 500 twice per day. Always with food.
If not significantly better in 4-6 weeks get xray
First study demonstrating this is live humans
Is the soy boy thing a meme, or does it actually make you a faggot?
I'm surprised how many things contain soy
Valid question, daily stormer had an article a while back praising soy
@Deleted User I know there was a guy who started drinking Soylent exclusively a few years ago, next thing you know, he cuts off his wee wee and grows his hair out.
Soy decreases testosterone
In small amounts is fine, but don't make it a part of regular diet
