@blueorange22 It's way better than a lot of people give it credit for being
Fact of the day is a really good idea, btw
@Tomas @InsaneCaterpilla That's really interesting
ok, so here's my post reddit post, saw this today: https://www.dezeen.com/2018/12/18/homelessness-london-movie-tottenham-court-road/
see if you can spot anything
@Men Are Human it might make a good article for the site, have some juicy official documents
ill have it posted by 11 pm EST
@Tomas I watched the Lorerunner on that episode, apparently it was supposed to be more directly about sexual abuse in earlier versions
@blueorange22 If you could make your work exclusive for the site and share the links as your own it would help the site grow a lot. Especially as I'd like to allow writing teams eventual access directly to the posting function.
You are on the list of possible trustees by the way
reddit /u/Chrisss2 posted a new link in /r/MensRights
Not sure if this has been x-posted here before, but according to r/Feminism we arenโt allowed to leave the house because if we walk around we can be seen as โpredatorsโ. Disgusting. - https://redd.it/a890mn

I have no idea if that's satire of the 'women need to dress conservativlly' argument or if they really are that unironic
looks like direct satire to me
It is. All of it is supposed to play on 'stop rape, don't tell women what to do', which really only exists in the form of 'be careful'
is basically all the "just don't get raped" points but in reverse
because everyone knows that rapists give a shit about what you are wearing, too conservative dress? yeah, that'll stop 'em xD
Really though those arguments are silly. They are said very infrequently by stupid people. The majority of the time they conflate something like 'be careful and don't walk alone at night in a bad neighbourhood' which is really good advice for *anyone* and turn it into meaning 'women shouldn't do x or they deserve rape' which isn't what is meant, at all
I was sort-of making a jibe at how they are often unironic hypocrites and say this kind of thing without irony
there are some good points though, like being aware of drink spiking and making sure you are in a group that will watch out for you as you also watch out for your friends, that is a problem and men should be aware of it too
Yep they should. I've heard of guys being date raped - usually at gay bars
I feel like another point, especially to men is to notice when a violent situation is starting to take shape and how to avoid/deescalate it, hardly goes a day without some poor young boy out alone getting coward punched and killed because he couldn't read the situation properly.
we engrain this shit into girls and boys are kind of just left to figure it out on their own
Like most things, the truth is more or less in the middle
Sorry, that posted late
and juste yesterday i was debating whther viooence against men or women was more normalized, they really though it was violence against women that was seen as socially acceptable and normal...IMO it's the opposite, when we see men involved in violence its whats "normal"
Against women is far more reported
Lol
I wonder if it's possible to work out the reporting rate
and i hate the stupidity of "dont teach women to avoid rape, teacfh men not to rape". you wouldnt see "teach terrorists not to be terrorists", you'd advise people not to travel to an area. if you go to a high crime area, it makes sense to take precautions. drinking at a club is no different
All you have to do to debate that is post one of the many videos of women and men being abused in public and the reactions of the public
Lol
i tried making that very point
Yep
@blueorange22 what did they say?
that i was an idiot
then left the discussion
Lol
So they know you are right
Typical
Had a debate on rape that got me banned from shit reddit says, of all places
I literally just told them the law when they were basically arguing to lock up men for every bad date as rapists
well if we have to teach men not to be rapists then we need to train women to not be false accusers as well
you cant really teach bad people and psychopaths not to be bad. the kind of person who would commit a violent assault lijely doesnt care about right and wrong. a class would be meaningless to them.
people just want to believe theres a "solution" to everything, but the unfortunately reality is that bad people exist and always will
There are solutions, but they are practical things that reduce overall numbers. One good thing to do would be to scrap Deluth-style policies.
which of course would be immediately attacked as "trying to remove protections for victims"
Yep.. But you could easily frame it as attacking victims. It's shitty we have to do that, but there you go
I mean, technically it is - you aren't catching the right person and you are trying up the police with nonsense stuff.
I mean really, the Duluth model is sexist and victim blaming, a male victim is automatically blamed for his gender
It dismissed and discredits certain victims by default
@blueorange22 True. This is more about adding in things like "this hurts women too!" than outright making it about them. It's more to try and cajole the SJWs and white knights so they don't instantly switch off
Basically just adding an extra layer of argument and inclusion. I admit I said it a little roughly at first - I do it all the time in articles. The Canada one is a blatant example
The problem is we are up against a disingenuous and manipulative adversary who will lie without any remorse or regard for consequences
So itโs never a fair debate
Yeah, there's that
Wish we had some kinda way to show them up. I mean, they manufacture statistics by excluding men.
Wish Realsexism.com had archived their links....
Itโs up to us now
Thereโs no more waiting for something to happen, itโs on us to do it. We ARE the cavalry
Yep. Basically.
But we are making headway. We've just got to show people that we won't put up with bullshit.
We just need one breakout moment
Mmmm
It's got to be memorable, but the chances are you can't script that
And getting the attention needed - that's hard.
I think focusing on multiple issues per protest is something we need to avoid. We need to start saying "MRM against X" and just pick one per protest. And make more protests.
That way when the media report it they have to say the subject - not dub us "MRA incels 4 rape"
That was the flaw of the Australian protest - it wasn't about anything because each person was there for a different cause.
Any ideas on how anyone?
Again, focus on the image aspect. Do it in another direction- a music video, actor, something fun. Make it about the person first, THEN the message.
Make it the party everyone wants to go to
I have realized that I don't want to hold all the bad stuff women have done to men over the entire gender. I just want things to change so we can patch up relations
The ones who have committed crimes and gotten off easy should be made to serve proper sentances
Still the future needs to be an egalitarian one or we are heading towards a viscous Matriarchy
@Bobby_Hill That's a good attitude. People who resent other groups end up really stressed and miserable
It's hard to follow when the group you don't want to hate keeps making you want to hate them. @Men Are Human
My god isn't that the truth.
Talking about paper abortions with a completely staunch Feminist pro child support. I was starting to question whether even abortion should be legal.
we will look like the good side when people see we dont have any bias and bigotry towards people for being born a certain way, compared to feminism where "men" and "white" are specifically mentioned as bad things. we might criticize ideas, statements, and opinions, but we do not criticize ethnicities or genders. that s a very telling different in itself
I'm so sick of them saying I'm bigoted when they prop up racism against white people all the fucking time โ
Like I get we colonized and shit but we also furthered most of all medical and scientific advancements. If the British empire didn't exist someone else would have done what they did and it would be racism against those people
Idk it's just stupid... Or maybe it's just me
and those things happened before we were born
yet we are still haunted by them all the way into present day for some fucked up reasoning
@Bobby_Hill it's not really women though. It's Feminists. An important distinction to make - it's an ideology, not a gender. Only Feminists see them as the same thing
@Men Are Human where it mentions giving 'women's fields' higher pay, that sounds somewhat similar to what's happening in Canada in some of the 2018 legislation
@InsaneCaterpilla It does Indeed. Well spotted.
direct discrimination disguised with convoluted and reasonably-sounding language. so you can never directly accuse them with their own words. classic manipulation tactics
I kinda hope this will work out with teachers and nurses getting more - and men filling up more of those roles.
@blueorange22 Indeed
yo, can i be informed on these new Canadian laws? i really need to know
I hope everyone is trying to enjoy the holiday season. Even with all the adversity we face we need to not let it consume us.
I'm trying to limit the amount of time I browse r/mensrights
Hear hear!
All it does for me now is make me sad or angry or both
I can understand that, I used to avoid it, but now I see it as a responsibility. No one will do it for us but ourselves
But do we really make a visible difference? I feel like this is less activism and more slactivism
Definitely. You can feel the difference, I see and hear people unknowingly reflect pro MRA sentiments all the time
Maybe I just haven't seen it yet
