The best way to convince him is not to attack him, but rather convince his base.

2018-11-27 17:53:26 UTC

I would imagine they're most of the way there already, especially on the damn wall.

2018-11-27 17:54:17 UTC

It's probably more effective to rally the right **Against** the left - call those opposing the wall, traitors to our nation etc, get at rise out of the base, unite them, rally them against the left.

2018-11-27 17:54:43 UTC

Attacking Trump makes us look petty, weak and sectarian.

2018-11-27 18:01:30 UTC

lately i've been defending trump against those disappointed in him, but if i have to hear Donny talk about black jobs one more time...

2018-11-27 18:03:48 UTC

It's all an act, honestly. Talking about black jobs helps make him seem "Not Racist" - you might not care about that, but guess who does - the American public.

2018-11-27 18:06:33 UTC

It's not all an act anymore. He has objectively failed on his signature campaign promises. What's more, he's barely even tried to curb immigration. Trump may not actually care about black employment, but he's governing like a neocon either way

2018-11-27 18:06:59 UTC

Constructively criticizing him may not work but absolutely warranted

2018-11-27 18:07:04 UTC

White wamen care about POC unemployment rates and such

2018-11-27 18:07:36 UTC

Trump can still unleash executive orders and try to at least fund the wall in the lame duck session, which is why his base needs to put pressure on him now

2018-11-27 18:07:50 UTC

Maybe praise for the actions on the border recently is warranted

2018-11-27 18:08:15 UTC

Instead of just counter signaling “it wasn’t bad tear gas”

2018-11-27 18:08:28 UTC

I'd be curious to see the breakdown between white females and white males on their views on trump's colored shilling

2018-11-27 18:09:07 UTC

I imagine he really does want to do something about immigration. I truly doubt he was lying during his campaign. That means there's something unseen stopping him. Same with the FBI attacking us but not antifa. The deep state must be far more powerful than we know.

2018-11-27 18:10:13 UTC

I know a former CEO of a defense contractor who is similar to Trump in many respects. He has the sort of behavior similar to Donnie that is like “I’m super successful idk who the hell you are you shouldn’t be telling me what to do”

2018-11-27 18:10:35 UTC

The problem is that he staffed his administration (other than Miller) with people who support immigration. His instincts are good, but they always talk him down from taking real action

2018-11-27 18:10:51 UTC

Are we allowed to tell people outside IE about the cards, or is this our secret money maker?

2018-11-27 18:10:52 UTC

I've heard the theory that he's not issuing EOs till he gets one more SCOTUS pick, because the 9th circuit would just instantly challenge him and SCOTUS isn't a guaranteed win for him just yet.

2018-11-27 18:10:55 UTC

I wish he could tell us things like that. I hate not knowing @Nemets

2018-11-27 18:12:00 UTC

The 9th will challenge him anyway. Any exec action will get reviewed. That’s why it needs to be done as soon as possible

2018-11-27 18:12:38 UTC

Trump needs to bring in Kobach and get rid of Kelly, Nielson, and Mattis. I'm 100% certain Kelly is convincing him to back down on every budget veto threat "to keep the military funded"

2018-11-27 18:12:50 UTC

@VinceChaos right, but if SCOTUS isn't going to support him it's dumb to do it now. It's a guaranteed losing move.

2018-11-27 18:13:14 UTC

afaik the 9th can't do shit about him actually enforcing what he EO's as long as the people executing the EO are on his side. hence the importance of wholesale razing his staff and starting from scratch

2018-11-27 18:13:30 UTC

Once he knows he'll win in the highest court, it's time to let the 9th circuit come at him.

2018-11-27 18:13:38 UTC

simply label all the EO's under the auspices of "national security," and the Patriot Act covers most anything

2018-11-27 18:13:42 UTC

We have 5 to 4 I believe I don’t think it’s a losing move but he may not feel confident yeah @missliterallywho

2018-11-27 18:14:42 UTC

@VinceChaos We don't necessarily have all 5. Roberts and Gorsuch are too moderate to trust.

2018-11-27 18:15:17 UTC

The election of the nationalist candidate came before the infrastructure was in place. What a topsy turvy world

2018-11-27 18:15:28 UTC

If Trump doesn't act now on immigration, he loses in 2020. If he's waiting for RBG to die before passing EOs, that's a losing bet. Even if she died tomorrow, you couldn't get a new justice on the court in time for the 2019 session

Feelsbad that even martial law probably wouldn't work cos the top of the military isn't nationalist enough to tolerate it

2018-11-27 18:18:27 UTC

To be fair, if Trump does fire all of his staff and starts from scratch, where would he find new staffers? He'd have to replace them with people who would want to work for a guy who would just fire everybody. They wouldn't be the best and the brightest.

Furthermore Trump would lose most of his support in Congress, which would put him in an even more vicarious position.

2018-11-27 18:19:11 UTC

Mass cyberstrike to suggest people to hire?

2018-11-27 18:19:26 UTC

Staffers are routinely replaced. Mass firing is unnecessary.

2018-11-27 18:20:09 UTC

His support in Congress hasn't actually passed anything they didn't support before Trump. It would be different if they had cut immigration as well as taxes

It's standard practice to change up the cabinet after an election.
