Sounds good
👍
@Grayson That's the thing, right? It's a balance between "this guy is shit optics for our organization" countered with "why do I care if it's someone from Utah who isn't a student, parent, or donor?"
Sweden now has a minority government with the Social Democrats and Greens, relying on the support of two centrist parties, and a former communist party. The supporters of the two centrist parties are fuming, and Social Democrats' supporters are angry as well. Sweden is in a state of acceleration and will see the center dissolve in the 2022 elections.
The fact that every other party would rather compromise their principles for a grand coalition than let the "far right" have any influence will only strengthen the Sweden Democrats' claim that they're the only real opposition
@Chris N. - CA I remember walking into the scholarship office in high school and 95% of them where for diversity or volunteering instead of hard work and merit, that was around when my already strained patience began to fray
I fondly remember when they were based on merit and I got two because I'm a smartypants.
I graduated with a 4.3 GPA and only ended up getting $500 per semester in scholarship money for my current university. Couldn't end up going to an Ivy, either, since there was no way to pay for it despite my grades and other achievements.
Feels bad, man.
This type of stuff can really hurt sometimes. Fortunately, fellowships for grad school are a lot more merit-based.
The academic elite are an exception, but if you're a young white man, consider the trades
Plumbing, electrical, elevator mechanic
MRI techs make decent money.
Lineman
I make a wage above the median household income in this country without ANY debt
My cousins do HVAC and they make great money, my buddy from college decided to become an Electrician. Did well.
I'm sure HVAC does well in Florida where you're at too... gotta keep that AC going!
Hell yeah
I personally plan on becoming an investment banker. I've been into finance ever since I saw what the financial crisis did to my father. Figured I'd have to change things from the inside given that regulatory capture and corporate donations make government regulation of investment banks almost impossible.
You are an exception
There's a reason Goldman Sachs is called Government Sachs
lol
"Imagine my shock"
@Chris N. - CA holy shit did you actually graduate with a 4.3 GPA?
probably 4.0 unweighted, but still
Which one is easiest to learn? Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish?
I've heard Norwegian is "close" (closer) to English.
From high school, yeah. 4.0 unweighted. 4.3 weighted. Even studied economics at Harvard for a summer semester when I was 16.
ok hot
I regret going to university tbh
I wish I just got some certifications
@Chris N. - CA that's amazing
But my dad made a lot of money, and I was a white male. Ended up getting offered a couple thousand in financial aid and around $15K/yr in scholarships, but Harvard is around $70K a year. No way I could pay.
Still have my old Harvard ID and everything. I plan to apply for business school there and get a fellowship once I'm done with undergrad.
I actually got accepted into UW through affirmative action
Stay in school, guys. You don't want to end up shoveling coal in some frozen wasteland. 😉
I transferred out after a year
@Roland haha ya I'd rather not do that but I mean even for my field, there's better routes than university
depending on what exactly you want to do, of course
Yeah, that's true. If you can apprentice a trade, that's a great way to go.
