@ThisIsChris it is the same reason they got mad at being called "NPCs" after two years of calling everyone right of Joe Biden a "Russian Bot." @The Lion Journos would make stories about how Whites in the Midwest who lost their jobs would need to learn how to code to participate in the “new global economy”. So when journos get laid off, telling them to learn to code is a real stinger.

I think "Learn to Code" is more than about coal miners. The reasons "Learn to Code" is so effective is because it points out that journalists don't really produce anything and instead are an entitled client group of the powerful class.

They produce either funny content to hate share, or rustle my jimmies.

@Sam Anderson the undercurrent of "learn to code" is that people telling you to learn to code whether they be journalists or anime avatars know that many people cannot or will not be coders. It was always an insult when journalists said it. "Don't want to work in a fluorescent environment, staring at a screen for 8 hours? Geez, why so fragile.
