If yall tag me every once in a while I might feel bullied to actually stick to something and not just do it for a week before forgetting it.

@Deleted User 10x3 time
Ah shit, you guys are actually gonna bully me on this

Well, how doseth one lift? I have 5kg manuals, but very little knowledge on technique
5kg you lift with your pinkie
5x5 preferred
Listen, on matters of fitness I'm literally retarded. 5x5 what?
5 lifts per 5 sets
Lay the fuck down and do 5 pushups 5 times with 30 second breathers
Aight
Don't be one of those goobers who get discouraged because you can't lift as much as others, that's why 90% of people quit going to the gym
BECOME THE FUCKING TURBO GORILLA GOD WANTED YOU TO BE
A lifting channel? Yes please
Yee
Tomorrow is lift day but I get only 5 hours of sleep
Gonna suck
@Daniil git gud fa๐ ฑ๏ธ๐ ฑ๏ธot
I'm joining a gym for the first time this Friday, after I get off work. Plan on lifting for an hour, then swimming.
Noice. I just got back into regular gym exercise myself fellas.
What's your routine?
I have a 5-day plan where I mix weights (free and machine) with some bodyweight and functional exercises
Nice. I'm just starting out and plan exercising when I get off work.
Great time to work out- especially if you've had a stressful day
Agreed.
Right lads
How do you stop being a fat son of a bitch without breaking the bank on gym membership?
Run? Swim?
If you just want to lose fat, you don't need to lift weights lol
Whatever you eat, eat half of it
Do you cook for yourself or does anyone control what you eat?
I'm off to university in September, but as of now I'm stuck with microwave meals. Unfortunately my mother is too busy for home cooking, and I have to devote the next few months to studying as opposed to getting a paid job and buying my own ingredients.
I guess at university there will be healthier meals
You can't cook other foods?
Try low carb, high fat diet
Medium on the protein
By the way, in order to excercise you can buy some elastic bands:
With some like those you can exercise pretty much every part of your body, at almost any intensity level
They are also really light and you can carry them to university
And one of these to have a wider set of possible excercises https://www.amazon.com/REEHUT-Single-Resistance-Band-Exercise/dp/B01IBIZG92/ref=sr_1_20?keywords=exercise+elastic+band&qid=1553699539&s=gateway&sr=8-20
Get some food with minimal oil. Drop fries. Absolutely no eating between meals. And small meals
If you fear you will hunger too much, get some flavored protein power to make protein shakes. They will fill you considerably while being mainly proteins.
If you consume too much protein, you'll skrew up your metabolism
I can't say I recommend that
I have been told that the alleged risks of protein are myths
And that any excess is just excreted
Still, you aren't going to consume too much with, lets say, a shake a day
if you feel too hungry
@Mozalbete โณฉ Lest my research is wrong, it's not an issue of protein specifically
When you consume one source of calories as your primary source, your body uses that as its "go to" source. That's the biggest reason why high fat, low carb diet actually works. When you run out of calories from your most recent meal, your body easily switches to fat stores.
When you eat protein for your primary intake, your body will eat at muscle when it runs out of calories from the most recent meal.
But it is true that if you over-eat on a high protein diet, you will pee out any protein calories your body can't use to make ATP or new muscle tissue
I've been thinking about getting into martial arts lately, but I'm not sure what styles to look into. Any of you guys have any experience in this area??
Depends if you just want a way to work out or you want to learn to kick ass
At the moment I'm more focused on working out.
Try karate then. lol
Ok, what about for kicking ass?
muay thai
krav maga, systema
<:rubbetirub:550020519420755970>
muay thai, kickboxing
@SteamedHams I know some about martial arts
What are you looking for? One on one or multiple opponents? Offensive or defensive? Asian or Western? Weapons or hand to hand?
So there are a few places near me that teach martial arts. Main ones are BJJ, muay thai, and combat hapkido. I'm looking for something to improve general fitness but also provide some defensive skills as well.
I did competitive sport pistol shooting for 5 years, and wanted something more physical after i was done, after 5 years of shooting range I was left with a nasty back pain from shooting positions, lack of physical exercise, and weak back muscles, after a while I started doing muay-thai, the back pain that i had for a about more than a year dissapeared after 3 months, and im the best shape of my life rn
its my 3rd year doing muay thai and im satisfied in what i learned concerning fighting, as I had once found myself at a fight outside the gym, to test that
so I would recomend such sport to you, just make sure the coaches there are not scammers or slackers, and will actually teach you to fight
our coach is a certified trainer and he was a competition fighter himself, so he always give good advices
@SteamedHams I'm not familiar with the latter two. I have a friend that does BJJ and he seems to get workouts from it, but it looks super gay when they roll around on the ground lol
you will look pretty gay also when one of them breaks your arm
or chokes you out
just go and learn a traditional combat sport that is around for a long time
such as boxing, muaythai, jiujitsu, taekwondo etc.
dont fall for that ''self defence'' meme
Hapkido has terrible quality control. Most guys are total bulls hitters, but if you find someone who really knows their stuff, it's awesome.
BJJ and Muay Thai are go-tos but learning boxing in-depth provides invaluabke knowledge about footwork, spacing and timing. The stamina doesnt hurt either. As men of our persuasion, you will be facing moee than one opponent at a time, so muay thai and boxing is more useful than BJJ in everything other than 1 on 1
If you only focus on boxing, you will be destroyed by people who do more than one martial art
