Welcome to the <#500538510839906304> channel, for discussing the creation of graphic arts, music arts, performing arts, poetry, and other artistic projects
This is for projects you or people you know are working on. To discuss arts you like please go to <#500510296138579992>
I think you may enjoy this one.
I've linked my music to the discord before, but here is some of my material:
Well, uh. This is my first time painting
pretty good. Is that Hercules vs the Nemean lion?
Here is a Dialogue (in the Greek sense) that I wrote.
@Attrition in the desert Just finished reading it, nice presentation of a lot of different points of views on politics in the world.
One thing I found interesting was how Publius would be skeptical of Silanius (since Silanius is populares) and doesn't seem to know the difference between Silanius and Cato, although the IE audience would surely sympatize with Silanius.
Another point, I don't know if IE members would all fit into one of these roles, but probably either Publius or Decimus or both, though we want to become Silanius.
Also interesting how I see an axis of Silanius-Publius-Decimus as on the same side, but that's my interpretation and I wonder if there are other axes people could come up with.
@ThisIsChris Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I tried to highlight that a lot of the issues we face today, the Roman republic faced as well. Especially the quasi-class struggle framed by external strife and expansion.
@Attrition in the desert yeah in each class there seems to be a "faith of current system" vs "skepticism of current system". In the upper and middle classes I strongly sympathize with the "skepticism of the system" side, but in the lower class I am probably more sympathetic with the "going along with current system" side, since I think his action is more rational given the (lack of) power he has
@ThisIsChris I think we can learn a lot from class stratification, in that, it's mostly a façade, structured to play us off one another by the elites, much like they did in Rome. Not to say there isn't a natural aristocracy among men, but that we should be aware, at a societal level, of trends in the ever shifting morass of populism.
Here is a short play that I wrote based on Constantine and the war of the four Emperors. (It's not that long)
i might have some kids that I know do this play if it's good 😃

I forgot how simple writing pop/indie music can be...
The bass doesn't cut through with the highs or mids, so it can sound kinda lacking on a cheap phone speaker. It's actually not a real bass either, pitch shifted guitar 😶
Haven’t had a chance to listen yet, but one trick I use when I make basses like that is to apply a multiband compressor to it so that I can apply certain affects such as distortion to the mids and highs without it killing the low end of the bass. This also allows me to keep the stereo width of the bass at 0 while also being able to add width to the mids/highs. If you use ableton I actually made a rack for it that you can just drop into the audio affect rack @Deleted User
oops, just seeing this now
I do use Ableton yeah, not super learned on multiband compression
Can't you achieve something similar to what you're describing by method of splitting your lows and highs into different tracks?
Cause isn't multiband compression basically just being able to control compression amount across different frequencies(bands)?
Just like, a signal chain simplifier?
And I've got a real Bass coming for Christmas 😀
Can't wait to record
Also in ableton, There's a few stock plugins that can be used to similar effect, like the overdrive, it has a built in frequency envelope.
Ableton has a multiband compressor that splits the frequencies up into the lows/mids/highs on one track and then allows you to add your affects to each frequency range which would reduce the need for multiple tracks with multiple affects on each track which just helps with cpu and also gives you better control over the frequency range of each category (lows mids and highs) without having to basically make three separate midi/audio tracks and then group them together to apply affects over all three. Basically it’s like splitting them into the three tracks and then grouping all tree together to give you the ability to add certain affects to the entire sound but with the control of keeping the bass in mono. You could do it manually, but why go through the trouble when you can just throw on the multiband compressor and be done with it. There are many other uses for multiband compression that you can use at that point as well but I don’t tend to use it for much more than that myself except for when I’m doing sound design.
I’ll upload the ableton rack I made so you can use it if you want
here are the main 3 songs Ive got right now.
make that 4 actually
I started this one like 5 years ago though and im still not really too happy with it
I'll give these a proper listen tomorrow on my monitors
dude, the percussion on all of these is great
Thanks 😃 Most of my music background comes from playing rhythm/lead guitar growing up
So I don’t know where the drum stuff came from. Just a natural thing I guess lol
I get pretty autistic with the drums though. I like to layer foley sounds over the drum hits to add texture. Most of my snare drums have recordings of bacon cooking in a pan layered over them for instance lol
Does anybody paint?
sounds a bit better now 😃
I’m just getting into drawing and painting I’m surprising myself. Long way to go of course
Goofy face and all
Haha thank u
Found a free sculpting app
cheaper practice than buying clay
If I had short hair, blue eyes, and a heckin beard, sure.
