well "nationalism" really goes back ot Napoloeon in the modern sense, it was a fuction of the need to get eveyone in a country behind a "total war" as von Klauswitz said in "Vom Kreig"

though, there is an interesting question to be raised here.... if the Germans aren't a true people, then how can it be claimed that Jews, which are in diaspora across the continant, are a unique people? How can you say X group attempted to exterminate Z group if Z group wasn't a people either?

pumpkin pie, sweet tea, stuffing (bread and vegetables baked for like 2 hours)

not sure about other families, but we always had something different each time

For us, it's usually Turkey and Ham. Saussages and Schnitzel and Brautwurst are every day foods

yea, we have a shop around here that makes fresh breads European style and my favorite are the German/Polish/Czech breads. they are perfect, much better than say italian or french bread
