Of that 652 billion a little under half is spent on non-military things, such as federal fire departments, veterans affairs, department of homeland security, cbp, etc.

one thing to remember when talking about the budget is that the left routinely conflates the *discretionary budget* with total government spending.

doing so completely omits virtually all social spending from the discussion, and magnifies defense spending to seem like virtually all money is spent on it.

We should strive to eliminate all waste and smaller targets are generally easier to hit
