Yeah. It is definitely good to have an athletic, fit body. Doesn't have to be loaded with muscle to be effective
I'm British. ---- No...
It also depends on what martial art / fighting style you use. If you're a wrestler, you expend energy in short spurts to slam someone or perform a takedown then you can rest by grappling with them and tying them up. However if you box, A LOT of cardio is needed.
Yeah and Im Bantu
@Pat-MA I agree. I want to have an atheletic body more than looking like a body builder. And yes definitely I want to train to be that fast again. It's been a few years and few pounds heavier though lol.
Haha hey never too late though!
@Argument of Perigee r u in the oathkeepers militia thing?
@Koba#0202 I am.
What's it like?
fwiw, 10 or so years ago I ran long distances (30+ miles a day) and biked ultras (200+ a day) and then started focusing on lifting. I know that is excesive so don't do that but a) I feel so much better lifting even now as an old man and b) I receive so much more respect/attention (not in a vanity way) benching 350 than i even did biking 200 miles from men and women alike.
but just like everyone said, all round fitness is the key as much as possible
I haven't lived close to any of the significant issues they targeted for activism, so my membership has been extremely passive. Mostly just pay dues and read newsletters. I'm still active duty, so I can't really go do things with them very easily. @Deleted User
@eastern.patriarch How did running all those miles affect your lower body? Any injuries today?
gotcha @Argument of Perigee
No, I never had any major injuries. I always squatted and kept my posterior chain strong so no IT band or such injuries. Took time off when needed. The only drawback tbh is that it made me super fucking fat. What happens is that when you get good at it, a 30 mile bike ride seems like a waste of time. a 5 mile run? Why bother? So my caloric input when working out at that level were yuuge. Then i had kids so no more eduro for 50 hours a week but guess what, forgot to cut my calories from 5K soooo.... ๐ Anyway, longwinded explanation but if I could do it again I would lift more and keep eduro stuff low but then again I did it because back then I was in a rough spot personally so it really helped me drain myself physically and emotionally.
@here are some videos of our meeting today, in a high temperature of 19 degrees Farenheit. Me, @Reinhard Wolff, @Matthias, and @Jeb! Nationalism - MD were the only ones who posted, but we had a lot of fun. The first fifteen minutes were really cold but, once we got rolling, we warmed right up!
Thank you for the uploads Will
Nice!
@Matthias Of course brother. You look pretty good. That high guard can be a pretty effective base defense. I also think it's really important to have a CEO who can scrap, even though we are a peaceful organization.
we just got a lot of good footage in Southern California yesterday with @Robtheroman. Should be coming soon.
Awesome
that last fight, Will just kept circling back ๐
i was waiting for him to be more offensive
A must watch
@Deleted User haha you know we can't be whompin' too hard on the new lads or they won't come back.
he looked alright for bein a new lad though
Yeah he really did
@Robtheroman I dream of a day that IE can make a video like that. Western men used to be that way. We can be that way again.
@Robtheroman That's who we're meant to be. Very inspiring.
(Also not a bad Thor Steinar ad)
@Robtheroman It's funny, I was just talking to my wife about this. When I was a boy growing up in the 90s, when we boys would read about the Spartans, Celts, Romans, etc. in class, we'd be totally pumped and wanted to be like them. Then our female (and some male) teachers and classmates would say things like "Well, yeah, but, you know, the Spartan men would be gay with each other," and "Well, yeah, but, you know, real men are sensitive to the needs of women." In this way, we learned to reject the masculine behaviors of old and were taught a new idea of masculinity that revolved less around physicality and brotherhood, and more around tolerance and understanding. This has been the experience of most western men in the modern era.
Agreed was the same when I was in school. Then I'd come home and tell my dad and he would be like they is warriors they ain't no faggots.(thick country accent) thank god I had my dad growing up to keep me on track and not believing the propaganda.
Start punishing mistakes with a nice left hook Will you're too soft on all us young'ins haha
Jokes aside, great footage guys and nice to see everyone making it out to train despite the cold.
We'll have to do some sparring sessions this summer.
I've gotten rusty living up in the mountains -- first time sparring in months and my defense was noticeably worse
Thought you looked good. You definitely move around good.
@Reinhard Wolff youโre still just as aggressive, which is a good sign. The rest is just mechanics.
We also learned that scrapping in freezing weather is pretty close to any other kind of scrapping once you get moving.
