I once knew an army tank general (Ret.) who I did a project with for our newspaper. He was a technical advisor on the graphics I was doing on combined arms. He only lived about three blocks from me in Sacramento, CA. We got to know each other during our work together, and when it was over he slapped me on the back and said, "HEY. DROP BY ANY TIME AFTER 6 A.M. FER COFFEE. I MEAN THAT." I would do my bike ride about then so I dropped by many, many mornings for several years until he had a stroke and died. He would always greet me with, "HOPE YOU LIKE YER COFFEE HOT AND STRONG." His command voice was apparently his everyday voice. Great, great man. He wrote a book during the time I knew him. I did the maps for that. I think about him often. I KNOW he would have approved of us.
