if i were in that situation, then I would write about how my identity wasn't as important until I was forced into a multiculti environment where I was forced to find my group or remain atomized and alienated
i came up through all White private schools. i always knew about racial groups and all that, but it was more of a curiosity rather than what it is now

yeah part of finding my group involved the regionalism of Dixie
finding my ancestral group involved a great deal of Southern Nationalism in my family history @Jacob I'm sure you can write about the importance of your Polish ancestors in a similar way

@Clayton_H_ATX Yeah, it's a town founded by a dissident group of Afrikaners in '91 thanks to a loophole in the South African constitution and code laws concerning businesses (legally, the town's considered a farm). The hope is that it'll serve as the nucleus of an Afrikaner "volkstaat" (people's state) as South Africa continues to circle the drain, and it's pretty promising. Their population grows by about 10% a year.
