2018-11-27 21:07:48 UTC

2018-11-27 21:08:11 UTC

dueling is an American pasttime

2018-11-27 21:08:18 UTC

Childbirth in the past wasn't so good

2018-11-27 21:08:46 UTC

2018-11-27 21:09:27 UTC

There is no ethical consumption under late serfdom

2018-11-27 21:09:28 UTC

Romantacising the past is an American pastime.

2018-11-27 21:10:14 UTC

People romanticize the aesthetics of the past, not its actual actualization

2018-11-27 21:10:29 UTC

“I love the Victorian era!!” No, you like needlepoint.

2018-11-27 21:11:13 UTC

Exactly, every great period in western history starts with people taking rome and adding a modern spin on it change my view

2018-11-27 21:11:34 UTC

I like a lot of the social formalities and hierarchy of the Victorian era

2018-11-27 21:11:36 UTC

Also you're welcome barbarians

2018-11-27 21:11:46 UTC

There’s plenty wrong with the modern era, but there are things I’m glad we have now.

2018-11-27 21:11:51 UTC

porbably an unpopular opinion, but i'm in that camp that political and economic structures will always evolve to meet the requirement at the time.
unfortunately i don't see a perfect and ever-lasting solution

2018-11-27 21:11:56 UTC

@Goosethe fight never ends

2018-11-27 21:12:24 UTC

@missliterallywho so do I, that and the aesthetics really. I don’t miss the 16 hour child labor shifts in the coal mines of Glamorganshire though.

2018-11-27 21:13:20 UTC

@ophiuchus why must we choose between our children working to death in mines vs being chemically castrated <:sad:366743316475281408>

2018-11-27 21:13:22 UTC

I wonder if Tucker would have banned modern mining equipment to protect child miner’s jobs...

2018-11-27 21:14:11 UTC

@ophiuchus agree, *but* I think we've swung too far the other way and now children are weak and caudled. "25 is the new 18" <:really:453005408064241674>

2018-11-27 21:14:19 UTC
