Is it immoral to have a child in the first place if the child may inherit a genetic disease?
if there's a strong chance
I mean if we have the capability to ensure the kids won't inherit it it's literally a non issue
It’s not the degree to which we’ll be playing God it’s that humans will be replaced, and I know how much my fellow Evropeans don’t wanna be replaced
If we can make our people even stronger we should. I prefer to use BAPs idea of encouraging the best to reproduce, but in all honesty we should either splice out the worse genetic diseases, it’s way nicer than the spartan alternative
I'm interested where playing God starts and where it ends
Big think emoji
If we can splice it out its practically a moral imperative to do so imo
The gods would want us to use our intellect. Historically the strong and smart have dominated so gene editing is perfectly within the natural order.
There is a difference between not having Downs Syndrome and gene editing for stronger muscles or high IQ.
There are absolutely great arguments for crispr, I won't deny. I even agree with some of it - however it's the implications a bit further on that worries me.
@Jacob What do you mean?
Up to a certain point I'm fine with with a certain amount of gene editing in so far as it is used to eradicate genetic diseases and deformities. However if people start designing babies like a character on a video game, then that's going a bit too far
Just regulate it
@Papa Pizzagate <:really:453005408064241674>
Have some kind of big brain science Geneva convention
Looks like globalism @Bjorn - MD
Wow you got me, dude.
Welp time to see Ian in <#358430131447922688> again. John O gonna give him the boot
you gotta know what JF is talking about to get the full understanding of the implications of these decisions
I don’t trust globalists with this technology but I also don’t trust them with anything. We’re responsible
I truly doubt limits on such tech would be respected by all peoples for all time. It's bound to be abused/overused by someone eventually (China)
@Jacob I was talking about that tweet that @Sam Anderson re-posted on here (of the feminist "boss battle").
They'll have super humans while we're arguing about the morality of it lol
>being against designer babies
do you even want a catgirl waifu?
I suspect it will be their downfall too, lol.
I’m gonna be cyborg from the DC comics.
This is what I’ve learned
Hopefully they have late term editing
So we can cure gills of autism
@ChippedStones Still taking your daily vaccs to max the avtism? Its a crucial step
Gene editing could be really helpful for colonizing other planets since we could modify our people to be better adapted to their environment and particularly gravity
I sent a tweet to Neil Degrassi Tyson today
@Bjorn - MD oh he already answered the question
@Papa Pizzagate interesting point, how do you see such a scenario backfiring?
About autism
Watch the JF vid bro
Yeah I'm gonna have to go with this being an overall good thing if done properly and with caution
I'm sceptical of gene editing. Too many uncharted waters.
Can we remove certain physical limitations? Muscle mass, height, weight, bone density? What about things like pain receptors?
Can we remove or edit things that have a negative effect on the human condition - keep ourselves more focused and higher achieving? What about removing empathy? Or certain inclinations of free will?
Is the end result even human?
