I need a career job
@The Lion are you tied to your locality?
tfw not in Chicago
What do you guys think of the concept of having one set of morality/ethics for your in-group and another for the out-groups?
I'm asking in reference to the colonization topic above
... isn't that how every group handles ethical dilemmas?
put it like this: has _anyone_ been able to apply a set of ethics universally? I seriously doubt it.
I wonder how Molyneux feels about UPB now.
@Salo Saloson but the problem is whites DO do that. Or at least they're the ones that deny themselves in-group ethics since many of them deny they even are a group sadly.
We should prioritize our own group, of course, but if an action towards a person is morally wrong, whether they are in group or out group shouldn't be a factor
@Jacob So is colonization morally wrong in your opinion?
yes
We should still counter narratives that portray colonialism as worse than it actually was, though
Not all behavior can be grouped into good or bad. Turn the other cheek is pretty neutral
@Jacob I want to ask you another question, do morals matter when it comes to your group versus the other?
@ExternalPepsi of course
if an action is morally wrong, it's still morally wrong if the target is outside your in group
*duplicitous and shifty people...* 🤔
@Nemets Do you mean the out-group won't trust you? And what if the out group doesn't care if we trust them? Doesn't that make you and your in-group vulnerable by expecting fairplay?
@Jacob Alright. But what if the out-group doesn't play that game and starts applying a different morality to you than the one amongst themselves? Do you reciprocate or remain on the moral high ground?
Oh happy Australia Day
@ExternalPepsi You react the same way you would if someone within your in group treated you immorally
Treat others the way they treat you
Okay. But if diversity+proximity=conflict, then why even try and hold the out-group to the same moral code of ethics as your in-group? If conflict is inevitable, why begin to apply universal morality in the first place just so they can screw you first? Or do you not believe that?
>the majority of the people we need to win over want to be good people
>we can't survive without winning over these people
strictly from a pragmatic position, we need to show these people they have been duped and normalize our opinions
@ExternalPepsi We do have some non whites who are sympathetic to us who we shouldn't alienate
@Evan we live in a bad world brah. Nah tho thats a fair point but these are questions I've been asking myself a lot lately.
@Jacob that didn't really address what I said.
Conflict is inevitable but don’t cause it
@VinceChaos but it's inevitable tho?
Bad things happen. Don’t be the one to cause them
Lol now I'm just trying to play devil's advocate
hmm
I can see where your coming from. I've asked myself the same questions. I just don't think that we could ever get past being a fringe group without ethics.
maybe I misunderstood the question
I know you’re good pepsi
I’ll leave this here
What am I looking at
A thicc boi
