Yes

2020-05-01 20:25:26 UTC

100% yes

2020-05-01 21:30:29 UTC

I'm gonna go with yes

2020-05-01 23:00:22 UTC

I would just boil rain water if it has sat or wasn't collected from clean equipment

2020-05-02 00:38:36 UTC

Morakniv stuff is legit, the garberg would be my preference for survival. Perfect size

Hey gents. I still have my ruck and e tool from the army (of course CIF said its too dirty to returnšŸ˜‚) would yā€™all recommend getting an assault pack instead of using a ruck as a go bag? And do yā€™all even recommend carrying around the E tool?

2020-05-03 19:06:10 UTC

How much stuff are you planning on carrying?

Well Iā€™m new to packing my own shit. Used to having a layout for gear. Weight isnā€™t as much a problem. Was a 13F while in so Iā€™m used to having a heavy ruck. Iā€™m just looking to get a bag together thatā€™ll last me at least 3 days off grid

2020-05-03 19:08:38 UTC

Thanks man. Gonna watch that right now

2020-05-03 19:12:52 UTC

For 3 days I'd say invest in a quality assault pack and learn to live longer than 3days with what you can carry in there in your AO. Even if you can ruck a huge pack all day no sweat, there's no sense weighing yourself down more than necessary. My two cents.

2020-05-03 19:19:55 UTC

Exactly. I can ruck it but iā€™d prefer not to. Video was super helpful by the way. Iā€™m just starting to build up my bag but so far Iā€™ve got radio, water filtration (tablets and a portable filter), poncho with grommets, 550 cord. Im sure Iā€™ve barely scratched the surface so if you have any recommendations iā€™d love to hear them.

Also working on building up a med bag (gonna have my girl carrying that gear, besides my IFAK, because sheā€™s in the medical field) but Iā€™m pretty sure Iā€™ve got a good idea on what I need for that

Add or take out based on need, basic checklist I use

2020-05-03 19:42:27 UTC

Thank you brother. Exactly what I was looking for @nomadzls

2020-05-03 20:08:36 UTC

@Pat.Henry I highly suggest you go check out Hill People Gearā€™s videos on levels of equippage

2020-05-03 20:12:27 UTC

@Crye_Salesman thank you man Iā€™ll check that out too

2020-05-03 21:34:50 UTC

i'd say imaboouot 10% through that list

2020-05-04 00:56:22 UTC

If you need any help with that medical bag list, feel free to contact me.

Red Green show is a great inspiration for large off grid projects

2020-05-05 00:26:53 UTC

I watch a lot of Corporal's Corner.

2020-05-05 03:01:32 UTC

Red Green is to give you inspiration and let you figure out how to do it better

2020-05-05 03:02:39 UTC

Just like how your textbooks don't show you everything, you gotta get the last bit by yourself

2020-05-06 01:12:34 UTC

@Sparrow I love Cpls Corner. He just has a way of making everything simple and easy.

2020-05-06 01:12:53 UTC

Oh yeah for sure. And he just enjoys his time out there, it's great.

2020-05-06 13:16:45 UTC

https://youtu.be/rcihSMpsDn0 check out this guys videos, he shows how to make several different types of shelters. Figured it'd be worth a look for new ideas

2020-05-06 20:28:35 UTC

Can offer anyone bushcraft survival in the NC area, let me know

2020-05-07 22:19:25 UTC

almost read it as full sniper shelter for a sec

2020-05-07 23:40:14 UTC

I mean, you could pretty easily retool it as one

2020-05-07 23:40:33 UTC

But yeah, that guy has some great stuff

2020-05-09 07:13:01 UTC

A good way to keep mud and stuff out of your boots and protect your legs are puttees. They're pretty cheap and are pretty darn good in almost every circumstance

2020-05-13 14:05:49 UTC

Anyone used a life straw?

2020-05-13 14:22:51 UTC

Whereā€™d you buy yours man?

2020-05-13 14:31:31 UTC

> Anyone used a life straw?
@GRANITE I have. They work very well for what they do. I used it when I was riding motorcycles in Madagascar, and in Cali, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado rivers.

2020-05-13 14:33:15 UTC

Awesome. Yea I got a 3 pack to have in the GO bags.

2020-05-13 16:55:29 UTC

I haven't used mine yet, but picked one up

2020-05-13 16:59:19 UTC

The Sawyer Mini filters quite a bit more water than the LifeStraw, I would recommend the Sawyer
