Please, help me. First time assembling the whole thing myself. I have the parts for the lower, the gas tube, the BCG, charge handle..what am I missing

2020-05-07 15:05:50 UTC

Not a lot

2020-05-07 15:05:57 UTC

You need a muzzle device

2020-05-07 15:19:19 UTC

@JackLAXXX you need a muzzle device and sights if some type. That's it. Once you get it together you can figure out how you want to setup a light and foregrip.

2020-05-07 15:20:43 UTC

Oh an mags. Obviously.

2020-05-07 15:22:32 UTC

Anyone know around what the torque spec is for a buffer tube on a AR, and also for a compesator on a crush washer?

2020-05-07 15:22:42 UTC

Tag me so I get the notification!

2020-05-07 15:42:26 UTC

Muzzle device? Well, I'm purchasing some high strength oil filters for my vehicle if that's what you're asking. Also yes, I am unsure of the sights I would like just yet.

2020-05-07 15:46:57 UTC

I've so many different size threads that I need to filter oil through on my import cars. I don't even know where to start. But that's a project I'm not even going to worry about right now.

@JackLAXXX throw a flash hider in your cart and some MBUS and send

2020-05-07 16:05:52 UTC

@JackLAXXX you'll still want at least a bird cage. Sights, unless you have an optic with an etched reticle you will also want irons.

2020-05-07 16:10:39 UTC

Technically the torque spec for the buffer tube is 38-42 pounds. Typically people will snug it down tight until it doesn't really move, then stake the castle nut

2020-05-07 16:13:31 UTC

This keeps it from backing off but you can still remove it if absolutely necessary. If you do remove it, you'll need a new end plate.
There's also a company that makes a ratcheting castle nut that doesn't require staking and can be removed, it's pretty nice.

I'm excited about my build but I feel like if I show yall imma get dragged lol

2020-05-07 16:20:05 UTC

@[CA] SoyBoi so? Put your man pants on and do it anyway.

2020-05-07 16:23:13 UTC

I'm just waiting for my lower šŸ˜’

2020-05-07 16:25:34 UTC

@JackLAXXX forward assist*

2020-05-07 16:29:35 UTC

@JackLAXXX I would just get an A2 charging handle for like 10 bucks, those strike industries one tend to snap. Also consider that you will need a barrel nut wrench and torque wrench. But overall looks like a decent parts list

2020-05-07 16:30:12 UTC

Also is the barrel and handguard aero, or something that store is claiming as their own?

2020-05-07 16:51:45 UTC

I'm a fan of BCM gunfighter CHs and Radian Raptor CHs

2020-05-07 16:59:30 UTC

This arrived today, yeah buddy! Gonna mount it on a Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Dart BlasterĀ .

Oh nice. I lke Vortex

2020-05-07 17:03:35 UTC

My BCM and Aero build is getting pricy... My only concern about your .223 wylde barrel is that it's a 1/8 twist. Would probably be better off with a 18-20" if I had to guess.

2020-05-07 17:06:27 UTC

> Oh nice. I lke Vortex
@Sparrow It is my second optic from them, the first being a red dot.

2020-05-07 17:14:48 UTC

@[VA] JediComms My favorite from vortex is easily the spitfire 3x prism. Clean, reliable, accurate, and easy to zero.

@Soulraiser what? šŸ¤Ø

2020-05-07 17:37:08 UTC

Iā€™m with Crye.

2020-05-07 17:37:33 UTC

Barrel length and twist do not inherently correspond. Barrel length does not effect twist rate or make it work much better.

2020-05-07 17:37:52 UTC

My 16ā€ barrel is a 1:7, meaning it will stabilize heavier bullets better.

2020-05-07 17:44:43 UTC

1:7 is better for heavier bullets in general? The higher twist rate is for lighter weight?

2020-05-07 17:52:58 UTC

higher twist rates are better for heavier bullets. 1:7 is really kinda iffy with 55gr bullets but works fine with 62. 1:8 twist works well with just about anything you throw in an AR though

2020-05-07 17:53:22 UTC

really the only reason not to have a 1:8 twist barrel is if you're using some crazy heavy ammo, like higher than 77gr

2020-05-07 17:54:06 UTC

I have a 1:7 I'm but I'm running 62, havent shot it yet tho so we'll see

2020-05-07 17:55:40 UTC

I thought 1:7 was the happy medium. Or was that 1:8?

2020-05-07 17:55:50 UTC

1:8 is the happy medium

2020-05-07 17:58:59 UTC

Guess I gotta run some chonk rounds lol

@Soulraiser I've been running a StrikeFire II on my 556 for a few years and haven't regretted that purchase.

2020-05-07 17:59:46 UTC

Any tips for painting a rifle? Multicam style
Paint recommendation?

2020-05-07 18:00:31 UTC

You should be running heavier rounds for defense anyway. Stuff like Hornady 75gr open tip match / boat tail hollow point. Its fragmentation is absolutely devastating

2020-05-07 18:01:27 UTC

Hmmm Well, I may be mistaken indeed then. I'm still going to stick with my 1/7 QPQ aero barrel tho'
