Can get an 80% ak lower for like $40 and fairly easy to finish out. Easier than an AR lower even. Just don't get a POS cast trunnion.

Also, another one from the BR area here.

The date and the fact he blacked out his name on the paperwork doesn't make sense. Especially after asking for immediate assistance and refusing to give an address.

Ah. That's a plus at least. Lets hope we get more solid info and dude doesn't ghost us.

Man, I can't find anywhere to shoot on. Only places are indoor range and the police range that they let people use once a month or some stupid shit. Ridiculous.

I just learned about a range in Thibodaux, which is only about an hour from me. But they are membership only at $275/year. Only other outdoor range I can find is Sherburne WMA.

Which is an extremely short range, can hardly zero a pistol on it. Let alone a rifle. I'm in Ascension parish.

Yeah, the issue is I don't have the time to drive an hour away to shoot a few mags per week with work, a 5 month old, and a toddler. If it was within a 10-15 minute drive I'd be there every night. lol

You don't need a gunsmithing license to do anything... Even when you go to a school for you, you get a certificate of completion of the course to show you've taken initiative to potentially start a career or side gig as a gunsmith....

That said... Thought on reliability of 80% lowers? I have a polymer lower from james madison tactical and it seems stout; Though I was planning on only using it as a .22

Plan on building out some others pretty soon here, once I get a mini-mill because even the polymer was a bitch with just a cheapo drill press.

Here I am, picking up a Discovery 1.... aka : the only reliable land rover...

Might try my hand at a polymer 80 glock as well; just so I can say I have a glock... Maybe then people will quit crying that my carry weapon is a makarov. #poorlife

I thought that was kinda given. Anywho, any plans or information on response to this Odessa bullshit? Posting up en masse in the areas, or just relying on lawyers to do lawyer things and continue to not getting anything done for another century.. Sad times.

Most new polymer lowers are very heavily reinforced, either with copper inserts or just a lot of extra material. As long as your rifle isn't absurdly over gassed I'm sure it'd be fine. The MAIN reason I'm going to build this one as a .22 is so both of my daughters can shoot a .22 AR style rifle at the same time and be able to learn manual of arms on a lighter rifle until they are confident with them to move to .223

Was the crew even armed?

Or was it just a group of guys having a good time

When I say armed, I mean, aside from CCW.

Damn. They should have let more people know, I'm sure there are plenty in the area to have had a QRF on standby.

#poorleadership ; Can only improve though.

Yeah. Lack of the event being common knowledge is a main issue.

Fair enough. I'm nowhere near the area.

Well, revolutions only begin 1 way. Legal and peaceful isn't working so far sadly, and hopefully it doesn't come to violence; But it's only a matter of time before it does if anyone really wants things to change.

Definitely should have had more people there. Especially if anyone was expecting police action. I didn't know about it until after the fact, of course I'm also hundreds of miles away.

I agree. I just hope my kids don't have to go through this shit.

@Rocking_Chair88 what did you end up needing to do? Got it downloaded, lets me join on the web version but won't open and can't manually search for it in the app. Might be searching the wrong thing :P

I'm about 5 mins from BR @[LA] Zoomer Medi/k/

Where do you go to shoot? Precision kinda sucks. Too cramped to teach anyone anything.

Plant work? Sherburne WMA is the only free range I know of that is outdoors. Well, you technically need a fishing or hunting license, but they never actually check anyone from my experience.

But it's an hour or so away as well.

When do y'all expect the poor shops to drop prices back to normal? This whole $500 for a $200 barrel shit is getting ridiculous....

My issue is finding an upper that isn't absurd. Not to mention all of the damn 80% lowers are sold out right now.

Only place that has uppers right now is PSA and uh...I'll pass.

I was ultra poor then. @Bogs_Bunny Only small calibers here currently.

Now I'm only a little poor. Lol

@Bogs_Bunny Yeah, I don't have anything higher than 9mm.

BCA really that bad? I'd prefer separate parts and put the shit together myself. If assembly is the concern vs quality of parts at least.

A basic efi system is pretty damn indestructible short of an EMP, which is maybe a 0.0000000001% chance of happening at any point. As neat as it is to think of how things would be afterwards...

@Crye_Salesman What the shit did you do to it?

No way in hell that's from normal shooting. That damage looks like it was either ran over by a vehicle or it had one spicy reload attempted to run through it.

I'm guessing hot reloads. Especially after looking at the BCG.

Yeah. Idk if I could blame that on BCA.. lol

Not to defend their poor assembly "skills" but that's a whole different ball game.

Lines you can mostly keep rubber. Cut an access hole or use an external fuel pump and keep a spare in the vehicle would be my idea behind it. Could rig anything from any other vehicle. FPR would be the biggest concern imo.

Yeah. Honestly just get a good holley FPR. I imagine the larger carb uses anywhere from 6-15 psi? I've only really messed with small carbs on old japanese shit boxes. Not dealing with that anymore though....

98 Discovery 1... Btw, anyone selling a winch? lol

So back to the fact that it's purely due to poor assembly rather than poor quality materials, correct?

AIM BCGs worth a damn?

I'm sure a PSA barrel would be perfectly fine, as they are hard steel blanks that they finish out.

For that price @sampson unless you're really intent on building one yourself, from my experience an M&P15 would probably fit. Might not be "battle ready" but you'll be able to learn the rifle and modify what you need to modify and swap weak points etc etc.

Hence why I said unless you're intent on building one.

Yeah, had to be a lemon. lol That yankee hill barrel actually worth a damn? The price was kinda throwing me for a loop with what it came with. I'm currently looking at an aero 16" barrel.

lower parts kits are all basically the same outside of triggers. Which can vary greatly. I'm just using a basic ass anderson parts kit and swapping the grip because it feels like holding a cactus. I don't intend on doing any crazy long range shooting to where that slight accuracy is going to make a difference. Especially if it's in a SHTF situation.

Oh you said BCM not BCA... lmao

I can see that. I figure, on your first one at bare minimum, you're going to lose a spring anyways. Might as well be a cheap one. As long as it isn't rusted out.. Idk how that even happens in that situation.

Yeah. Might as well use what you've already got. Spend the savings on wear parts and suspension.

Yeah, that's a great price for a classic. I've got 4500 into this Discovery 1 but it's also borderline mint aside from saggy headliner. While being able to do pretty much anything you could ever ask for offroad, short of being a rock crawling buggy or some really crazy shit. All with great A/C and great sound from the factory. Lol I've heard some bad things about HF winches but maybe they've improved. Worth a shot I suppose, as it'll be more for getting other people out than myself. Assuming maxtrax fail.

I didn't realize BCM still had stock. Putting together a parts list on there right now.

Anyone selling poor stick optics? Iso a set of flip up irons, front and rear and wouldn't mind a vortex 3x if someone has a beat up one.

Yeah, 351W is extremely common. 351C on the other hand is rare as shit. I had one in my old 85 Lincoln Hearse that ran like a raped ape. Buuuuut I sold it...

I put together about a $1100 build not including lower since I already have a built one. But that includes BCM CH, aero 16" 1/7 barrel, BCM upper with parts and forward assist, AIM BCG, and BCM 13" mlok rail. And a few other goodies. Should be a fairly solid battle rifle.

Can pick up an M&P9 single stack for under $400 and have $200 for ammo...

Also interested in the streamlight if Bender doesn't grab it.

My BCM and Aero build is getting pricy... My only concern about your .223 wylde barrel is that it's a 1/8 twist. Would probably be better off with a 18-20" if I had to guess.

@[VA] JediComms My favorite from vortex is easily the spitfire 3x prism. Clean, reliable, accurate, and easy to zero.

Hmmm Well, I may be mistaken indeed then. I'm still going to stick with my 1/7 QPQ aero barrel tho'

I don't even know how to react to that one

Based purely on that news article, dude was out running and "looked suspicious" so they pulled a gun on him, he tried to fight the gun away from them and they shot him. ie : cold blooded murder. And they didn't get arrested for it or anything. I'm not one to call racism, as I literally never have. But this is pretty damn blatant. ASSUMING the news article is factual.

What magnifier/red dot combo would y'all recommend? Not against trying something new.

Jesus christ @TacticalBeard ; idk if I want to spend $1k on an optic... Definitely looking a little more budget friendly than that. That said, every eotech I've ever used was the most blurry SOB that made the optic borderline unusable. I'll have to do more research on this magnifier thing..

I've never had issues with any other red dots. Just eotech. My vision is actually quite a bit better than average.

Thinking I'll just stick to grabbing a vortex spitfire 3x. Price just makes sense and I've had amazing luck with them in the past. I'll just have to mount my irons canted.

clean the booboo

Now it's a little more advanced..right?

Are Burris optics worth a damn?

Good to know regarding the burris vs vortex. Only vortex I can find right now are upcharged like hell, so just going to stick with shitty ruger backup irons until they start to come back.

Pshhh This is 2020; Get you a PWS ratcheting castle nut set.

@JackLAXXX midway usa has some decent guides on building the upper and lower on youtube.

it can only go into "safe" when the hammer is cocked back

If you're that worried about being monitored through your computer, build a raspberry pi with a linux variant and use it for comms and secure storage.

I mean. At least it's just the laser engravings... How they managed to run it through twice is baffling though.

However, it's the engraving that's done after the milling. Everything should be to the same specs still. If the holes were cut like that as well then the concern would be there.

Exactly my point. Therefore, if the lower parts all fit and function properly, and if the upper attaches properly, then there's nothing wrong with it except cosmetic.

And in reality, it was probably sold as a blemished lower in the first place, as they do regularly for parts that had weird shit like that happen.

With a few hose clamps you got yourself a "high quality" bayonet...

Band of Brothers; Actually in the midst of watching it with my wife.

Believe it was Bull that told one of the replacements that just before the battle of the bulge.

It has to do with the added weight at the front of the rifle that you aren't used to being there.

But then it's an issue when you don't have it fixed. It's a lose-lose imo. But useful back when they had bolt action or semi autos that jammed every other shot in a mostly trench warfare style of fighting.

Advantage Group? Never heard of it. I'm in Prairieville.

How do y'all feel about the seekins precision SP3R mlok rail?

I figured. Grabbed it because the BCM 13" got sold out by the time I ordered it, the seekins was only $10 more and 15"; on a 16" aero QPQ 1/7 barrel.

Only component of my rifle I'm concerned about that I couldn't find any info on is the big daddy unlimited BCG; It's full auto profile but couldn't find any reviews on it. Guess I'll be doing a good bit of measuring before shooting it.

Unfortunately that's pretty damn far from us BR area folks.

Wait, we're meeting up somewhere? Shit I missed a few days of conversation it looks like. Been busy with tons of work popping up lately.

But isn't that the equivalent of saying, "we have the ability to live forever, we just need to figure out how."? O.o

If we live forever then the world would be even more far gone than it already is... As far as space brakes go, literally reverse thrusters. Zero vacuum means you need propulsion in the opposite direction to create the opposite reaction..

Lots of math..
