Fellow boojihadeen in Lafayette, trying to find a cheap 223 AR15 platform for the time being.
Let's see if we can't get together at a range some time
Looking to build a budget AR-15, don't really care if I have to piecemeal and assemble the parts but I do want it to be complete as opposed to an 80%er. Unless one of you kind gentleman has a drill press and experience with it. Any suggestions on online gun markets/manufacturers
Many thanks, I was looking at those two. Seemed like a safe bet. Aero even has the pew pew pew model lower for sale currently
Like you said, he really jumped the gun here...
Are a majority of people transferring there? How quick is it to do?
So I've put together a little kit, using a lot of Aero Precision pieces due to the recommendation of one of you fine guys in the chat here. What do you think? I also have a stripped Aero lower I'm shipping separately to FFL dealer
Altogether I'm spending less than $600 not counting sights and attachments or if my stoner senses missed something in the build
Oh nooo
Please, help me. First time assembling the whole thing myself. I have the parts for the lower, the gas tube, the BCG, charge handle..what am I missing
Muzzle device? Well, I'm purchasing some high strength oil filters for my vehicle if that's what you're asking. Also yes, I am unsure of the sights I would like just yet.
I'm in Lafayette, willing to make any drive up to New Orleans/equidistant West to train or verify with some of you fellas.
Ordering my AR today
> Also is the barrel and handguard aero, or something that store is claiming as their own?
@Crye_Salesman
The barrel and handguard are not aero, let me get the specs here in a minute or two
Sounds like that would be the move, then. What kind of guys we got here in the LA gaggle? I'm a chef & outdoorsman. Limited experience with anything except small and medium unit tactics, if I'm being frank
I'm an amateur WWII historian, father is an ex marine. Spent lots of time studying military tales, confident in my effective use of defilades and direction aha. Also to boot, I'm probably younger than most of you
Nothing like the smell of gun grease on a rainy night
I ended up having to settle with Anderson Mnfg, how much did I fuck myself with that choice
> Anderson is...well, do you have armorers tools?
@Crye_Salesman
That I do not, why do you say that? Have plenty of tools but none specific to armory
Also..what the fuck is this? I know I've seen it but I'm doing this piecemeal and I can't remember the color bag this was in
Much appreciated, friend
It seems that my bolt catch and firing hammer are touching, I feel like that isn't a good thing. Leaves the bolt catch feeling rusty when assembled
But other than that, a successful first time assembling an AR15. Honestly...much simpler than I expected
Okay, I see
I don't believe I scratched anything
You mean my upper receiver? Only very minor scuffs
But there are some
This right here with Magpul MOE stock
I have sights and my nickel boron BCG coming in this week
Oof wait did I install the castle nut incorrectly
When you say stake
I am legally special needs so let's be kind
Not really, but definitely a registered idiot
Hm, no I have not, I tightened to maybe 50lbs of pulldown using the wrench it came with
Those are the exact ones I used!
Apart from having to take my pistol grip off to attach my fire selector it was an easy go
Also, is my fire selector supposed to stay fixed to fire for any reason? When I open up and cock the internals I can freely move it but once I fire it remains fixed
I don't mind needles, while where at it can we find a way to rig an IV bag with THC? Also I have some technical training but have never had to apply my knowledge on an actual injury
Again registered idiot but I appreciate all of the help tonight guys
Is it normal for my BCG to have a small gap? Or is this not seated correctly?
Also as someone who has never built a gun beforehand...it isn't really that hard. Just have your work looked over by someone reputable before bringing to the range/firing it
It seems I can't breakdown without doing the pivot pin first, I think it's working against the buffer
Something must be off, or it isn't seating properly. I should be able to break it apart more easily, from the back pin first I'm thinking right?
Hm. I'm afraid to rack the bolt until then, may send pics as I try to take it back apart
Nothing moves if I hit the forward assist
Lol I don't have anything loaded
Dummy rounds come Sunday
That's what I'm doing
Trying to use the marketplace of ideas to gather professional consensus. Is my gas block too far back possibly?
Gonna take it all apart and start over
Mostly, anyway
Just a slight overhang
Even if j crank the buffer back a bit, the bolt catches on the top inner edge of my lower
My freedom is just a few cm of heat treated aluminum away
I like the BCM handguard I bought, wouldn't have gotten a different one in hindsight. Very tight fight but...I like it that way
My first attachment? 1000 rounds of ammo
Then onto greener pastures
Got a chance to stop near Fort Polk recently, those ranges looked nice...if only I had the chance to zero my rifle in those facilities. They had a shoot house as well
This makes me think...what the fuck does the average person think this is about?? Sorry if the b word is involved but...what is going on in the heads of the general population.
> Haven't looked at it but Seekins is generally synonymous with quality in the precision shooting world
@Artemis my barrel is a seekins, does their quality extend there
!rank
I
(realize I'm late to the party but would love to be in the separate group to organize actual face to face meetings
)*
so I'm looking to get a good sear in my...steak
I want to cook it up at home, instead of using a professional facility. Any suggestions?
any easy to do at home suggestions for searing my steaks automatically? Want a good char
