Apparently the "Ugandan Knuckles" meme is now being deemed racist by Polygon.
It's an older meme, but it checks out.
The frustrating thing in the US is that the Dems *can* win, but they're bought out and paid for by the same monied interest groups and lobbyists that many on the right are in the pocket of. So, in essence, they're basically mirrors of each other.
Even in terms of just stating what they (should) be for, such as single-payer healthcare and such. While I don't agree with him on everything, there is a reason Bernie is the most popular politician in the US right now.
Like, I wish the Dems would go back into Trump's twitter history and point out the... I think it was *five* times Trump praised single-payer healthcare? They could actually corner him into a position to actually maybe get it done, or make him out to be a liar about that, but in order to do that they themselves would want to have single-payer healthcare, as well.
I don't think Obamacare even is single-payer, at least not in the same way that it single-payer exists in every other modern western nation.
Or even any kind of socialized healthcare, for that matter.
Yeah, we have medicare, but that only applies to certain people, if I remember.
I don't make enough money to afford healthcare in the US, myself, but at least now I'm no longer in danger of being fined for not being able to afford it. lol
"Can't afford healthcare? We'll just fine you and make you pay us money that you don't have."
Here's to hoping I don't get seriously ill or have a serious accident, or else I'll get slapped with a medical bill I'll never be able to pay off. lol
Sorry, didn't mean for that to turn into the mini rant that it did.
Yet, will probably still be brought up with the mindset that he is being oppressed.
I'm still figuring out what I like to use and not, but have overall cut out pretty much anything google related except for YouTube and Hangouts.
Now, if only we could solve the homeless issue...
Well, on top of that, those jobs are also becoming more and more automated.
And the US was actually putting more of an effort into it more than other countries were.
Like, making sure some of the money didn't just... disappear?
Wind is alright, though people keep going on about 'da birbs doe.'
I guess birds kept running into the turbines or something?
"It's fine bruh, just build like a giant battery bank or something." <:hmkGrin:284219474440355840>
Just tell the government we found the possibility of there being oil on the moon.
Sorry, that was a bad joke on my part. I wasn't even trying. lol
Well, he certainly got his gorilla channel up quick, didn't he? <:Kappa:327142715592540171>
Well, walls are not entirely ineffective, or else they wouldn't have been used so much in history.
This is why I'm not discussing it all that much.
I don't really have the authority to speak on anything.
It's kind of funny.
The same people that got mad at the bakery for not making the cake...
Then turn around when this kind of stuff happens, and then says "but Google/Twitter/Facebook is a private company!!"
Yeah, I get that, which is why I primarily use stuff that isn't related to Google, for the most part.
I mostly stick to independent creators like Tim, yeah.
How does every other western nation manage to pull it off, then?
So, you're saying ethnostates work? <:hmkGrin:284219474440355840>
I'm not quite sure with what homogeneity has to do with anything...?
That's how health insurance works. The healthy subsidize the sick.
Paying for someone else's mistakes when it comes to a fire starting is fine?
You're not having to also then give insurance companies money, though, since your health coverage comes through taxes. It's not like you're paying it through taxes and then also giving medical companies and hospitals boatloads of money.
There's no such thing as being slapped with a medical bill that you have to spend the rest of your life paying off, because you have the audacity to actually get sick or hurt.
And you don't get cases of someone's insurance turning down their cancer treatment because she had acne as a teenager.
What? I was talking about private insurance companies.
Yeah, I'm not denying that lol. I just think healthcare would be one of those things people wouldn't mind paying a bit extra in taxes for.
I don't like it, but frankly, I do think it would be slightly better than our healthcare system as it is right now.
So, you're in a country that does have it then?
If you need emergency care, you are going to get it.
One thing that contributes to the 'wait time' thing is the fact that so many illegal aliens go to the hospital and take up space in the ER, I think.
To be honest, I am not certain in terms of efficiency, but the fact is no one really brings it up in the US except for a select few. They would rather just let people go bankrupt trying to pay for medical expenses themselves.
Up to 45,000 people a year in the US die from a lack of healthcare, according to a 2009 study.
Do you know what that number is in Canada? 0.
The number in France? 0.
The number in the UK? 0.
And that is in 2009. I don't know what the number is today. Could be higher, could be lower.
As it is right now the government doesn't manage any of it, to my knowledge. Our healthcare is privatized.
The population as a whole shouldn't matter, since a bigger population would -in theory- give a proportionate amount in taxes. The issue here is people on welfare/jobless, and illegals who avoid paying taxes.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the number was higher in the US than in other countries, but that's a failure in enforcing tax codes and from deductions/subsidies.
Well, there's also the fact that the US can most definitely be spending it's tax dollars better, no argument here.
We have over 800 military bases around the world, for example.
Taxes are taken out on income, and every time you buy/sell an item.
I'm really not too familiar with our tax system, myself. Sometimes you overpay and get more money back, sometimes you get a phone call from the IRS telling you that you owe them 5000 dollars.
Like, food items altogether are not taxed in California, whereas in Georgia only *fresh* food items are not taxes, if I remember correctly. Even if I am not, it's along those lines.
I'm not too familiar with th enew tax plan, either. lol
Well, it doesn't seem like a lot at face value, but if you actually add it all up some people can get taxed as high as about... I think 45%?
And giving tax reductions to the wealthy.
Which sounds good on paper, but it requires us to just "trust" that the companies/corporations will use that money to actually provide jobs instead of just pocketing it.
And if you trust the wealthy to not just pocket the money, you have far more faith in them than I do lol.
