The frustrating thing in the US is that the Dems *can* win, but they're bought out and paid for by the same monied interest groups and lobbyists that many on the right are in the pocket of. So, in essence, they're basically mirrors of each other.

You're not having to also then give insurance companies money, though, since your health coverage comes through taxes. It's not like you're paying it through taxes and then also giving medical companies and hospitals boatloads of money.

And you don't get cases of someone's insurance turning down their cancer treatment because she had acne as a teenager.

One thing that contributes to the 'wait time' thing is the fact that so many illegal aliens go to the hospital and take up space in the ER, I think.

But that happens here anyway as it is.

To be honest, I am not certain in terms of efficiency, but the fact is no one really brings it up in the US except for a select few. They would rather just let people go bankrupt trying to pay for medical expenses themselves.

The population as a whole shouldn't matter, since a bigger population would -in theory- give a proportionate amount in taxes. The issue here is people on welfare/jobless, and illegals who avoid paying taxes.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the number was higher in the US than in other countries, but that's a failure in enforcing tax codes and from deductions/subsidies.

I'm really not too familiar with our tax system, myself. Sometimes you overpay and get more money back, sometimes you get a phone call from the IRS telling you that you owe them 5000 dollars.

Like, food items altogether are not taxed in California, whereas in Georgia only *fresh* food items are not taxes, if I remember correctly. Even if I am not, it's along those lines.
