*has been*
Has been happening to mining town for all of history really
since the end of the second world war
Mine runs out, everyone peaces
But coal is more the market dries up
How bout the coal mining jobs coming back? I thought that was one of the things Trump wanted to fix?
It is.
`woo coal industry`
Will help for a bit but it's probably temporary until the next ban happens.
He declared global warming fake news and took a victory on that promise I think
"I have pulled out of the Paris Accords, I have saved the coal industry. Job down."
"now if only I had pulled out of Paris Accord...."
Well, the Paris Accord was definately not helping against GW.
And the US was actually putting more of an effort into it more than other countries were.
And who was keeping track?
Of all the money?
largest alterinative energy producer
Or if the countries were actually using them for their intended purposes? Do we just take their word for it?
I don't really care about them tbh, and GW alarmist hurt it worst than denyists I think.
With coal it's not just about global warming, coal power plants produce a shitload of toxic byproducts
Coal just in general has been on the way out for a while
We need more nuclear plants.
oil is heading that way too
People not happy with regulation around it? Or that people can get it cheaper overseas?
Like what caused the US coal mines to shut down in the first place?
@CreativeRealms if they were more commercially viable we would be building them
And well, if they had some low risk areas to construct them
They are powerful yes, but one mistake can screw over alot
When oil prices slowly increase they would be more appealing to investors
Not that we dont trust Nuclear, more like we dont trust people to keep it in check
Not to mention that it can be used for war as well
Nuclear reactors in the US are very safe
wind and solar are easy to setup, easy to invest in. nuke power is always on the table too
Yeah they are really safe.
That's part of their cost though
expensive to run
Less pollution though.
@ping Nuclear reactors anywhere are very safe. The only major nuclear accidents in history were flukes or design flaws that have been fixed in newer plants
That said, the second biggest disaster since cernnobyle resulted in no deaths related to radiation. At least that was the numbers of few months ago
You could argue birth defects
