I've been tempted to buy one of those drone thingies, but I know if I did I'd probably crash it in the first ten minutes and be out a load of cash
Well I posted it, but I think there are other similar studies as well. Quite possibly better ones. For example the studies conclusion says that a significant part of the bias is caused by upmarking weaker students in math (which tends to be girls) yet the study also mentions that this accounts for 7.5% of the bias, which I wouldn't call that significant
p!catch spoink
Perhaps, but where's the theory on where the rest of the unaccounted for %? It mentions also disruptive behaviour at 3.5% for instance, but there's a huge amount of 'unknown' which should lead to further theories
p!catch pinsir
True. I guess what I expected was that in the conclusion it would list the next studies to be carried out in order to build upon the current one
๐
I wasn't saying it should, I was saying the study should suggest further studies that could be carried out to investigate the unknown %
p!catch slaking
Course there's no money for a study, anything that shows girls/woman have a bias in favour of them is obviously lies constructed by the patriarchy TM
Nah, haven't you heard, they're just gonna tax men more and out it directly into women's bank accounts instead. How dare anyone make women apply for a card to have true equality. They should just sit there and receive money
Well now that just sounds mean

Lies!! I have a life!! It just hides from me sometimes... Pesky bugger...
Happens to everyone :3
I've certainly seen studies that indicate boys do better on standardised tests, and ones that indicate girls are better with coursework (so of course coursework has been increased over the last couple decades)
A study indicating that and the increase of coursework could possibly be included in the article
I'm getting a 404 error on that link, mate, I'll have a read through it and see of I can dig up anything that might be better
Thanks
It might be worth considering this one: https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/06/schools-colleges-failing-boys-masculinity @asparkofpyrokravte
I was thinking along the lines of it illustrating that people care when girls need help but not boys, but I get your point.
I like that article, the only thing missing from it is to mention the decline of such activities that they suggest should be used over the years
Mmm, the main conclusion I get from it is that sitting indoors naturally increases boy's (and girls) need for physical activity. I wouldn't think then that "sedentary recess activity" (low levels of play) would decrease figeting in class... Which part of the study mentions that?
That's not the point. People are individuals, just because other people have more accidents doesn't mean one sex should have to pay more than the other. In what other area is this ok? Women use medical services more than men, does this mean that they should be charged more for insurance or taxed more for national healthcare? They clearly aren't, so why is a man forced to pay for others when it comes to car insurance?
Oops, there were more messages I didn't read. Still, what I said is valid
Hmmm. I generally agree that too much physical activity can just make students tired or 'too hyped up' perhaps leading to inattention, but less activity leading to more attention seems to go against other studies
@asparkofpyrokravte is there more of an intro before what you've put here?
To me it does seem like more is needed mate... Something to engage readers attention to what you have to say. Just on the face of it, it looks like it wouldn't call the average persons attention to wanting to delve into these issues. Asking some questions of the readers at the start is a good tactic to engage people, just something as simple as 'why are our boys failing in schools?' 'What can we do to help our boys in school and what are the issues they face?' It may seem like handholding, but asking those questions and then leading the reader through the studies and conclusions makes them feel more involved/invested in the article
Men still pay more for car insurance
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/insurance/car/men-still-paying-women-car-insurance-five-years-eu-ruling/
Doesn't matter if men drive more. Doesn't say anything about how often a particular person drives. Some women drive more, why shouldn't those particular women be charged more?
No, they aren't
It's fair to charge all people as an average, it isn't to charge one sex more
On average men will pay more sure, but average miles are not the problem and not anything anyone is arguing about. Simply changed the sex on your insurance application from female to male will result in thousands increase
I may be exaggerating the cost then, obviously depends what car you have and such (the more it's worth the more the increase will be etc)
The rest stands
Reading into it, yes, companies are complying with the rules yet have basically circumvented them to even increase the cost difference.
https://www.independent.co.uk/money/spend-save/car-insurance-eu-law-men-women-charge-different-comparethemarket-gender-directive-a7969816.html
They've simply taken things such as the type of jobs that require vehicles which more men work inand shifted the extra cost there, as well as the types of cars men tend to buy.
This is still gender discrimination, it's just in a more roundabout way.

How can you say men have chosen a particular job when it comes after the fact? You want them to just give up their job and livelihood when insurers have unreasonably changed the rules on them?
It's not the same argument because the 'wage gap' is gone into knowingly by women who choose those professions, the men who have chosen their professions just suddenly had those costs added onto them *in a real effort by insurance companies to keep the costs on men*
They increased those costs, on the professions men are in, to offset not being able to directly charge men more. You can't factor in such a cost increase.
The way that it was done discriminates against men

How do you figure that those paying child support from poor backgrounds are able to afford flights or travel when all their money is taken directly out of their pay cheque.
Many wouldn't go and be apart from whatever limited access to their children gives them.
The government would also seize whatever assets they may leave behind.
Nowhere near enough people would ever do it.
In all cases? No, they'd only seize those that couldn't pay, they wouldn't seize when they just pay unreasonable amounts but can pay it
Once they are extradited, all of that will happen, where it may not happen otherwise.
You might get some people to do this but the monumental task if getting them all to do it at the same time is unrealistic
Who's gonna pay for the poor people to leave the country and the costs of living in another one? You?
How would it only be a few months though, if they're poor they may not have marketable job skills, in a new country they have no legal right to work in meaning they'll probably be working below minimum wage if they do find employment there. It'll be an on going cost to try and support them
How do you plan to convince people to do this? It would be a massive disruption of their lives... I'm sorry, I reallyndont see this ever happening
