Make the government try to extradite every last one of them
That would definitely get some attention
How do you figure that those paying child support from poor backgrounds are able to afford flights or travel when all their money is taken directly out of their pay cheque.
Many wouldn't go and be apart from whatever limited access to their children gives them.
The government would also seize whatever assets they may leave behind.
Nowhere near enough people would ever do it.
They'd seize them if they stayed here too
In all cases? No, they'd only seize those that couldn't pay, they wouldn't seize when they just pay unreasonable amounts but can pay it
And honestly, I have some steps. Sell all your property, move all your money to a foreign bank account, and then leave
I honestly feel like more people would do it that way
I mean who genuinely wants to lose all their assets, have their wages garnished, face tens of thousands in debt, and go to jail?
We can at least try to make it hard for the government to get anything out of it
Once they are extradited, all of that will happen, where it may not happen otherwise.
You might get some people to do this but the monumental task if getting them all to do it at the same time is unrealistic
Also, if you hit the government in the wallet, which what I'm describing definitely will, that'll be taken more seriously
You know how much it costs to extradite every last person paying child support or alimony in the US?
You've gotta go through the legal procedure and pay to have them flown back
and then put them in jail
For every single one of them
The costs would be monumental
I imagine the government wouldn't even do it. The costs would probably outweigh the benefit of seizing a bunch of poor people's bank accounts
Who's gonna pay for the poor people to leave the country and the costs of living in another one? You?
I'm not rich, but I bet I could find someone who could assist in funding people who can't afford a plane ticket and a few months' rent
Plane tickets aren't so expensive these days either, so if you go somewhere else and get a job there, I bet you'd be fine
How would it only be a few months though, if they're poor they may not have marketable job skills, in a new country they have no legal right to work in meaning they'll probably be working below minimum wage if they do find employment there. It'll be an on going cost to try and support them
If they're capable of surviving here, they can probably survive somewhere else in the world. If not, the way I see it, we're giving them a chance to stick it to the people who put them there and give them some help on the side. It's not just going to be pitifully poor people doing this either. Middle class people who aren't doing hot because of payments could probably also participate. And all of this is assuming that there's not enough funding to make this last for years
Honestly, just one year is probably enough
To really drive home a point
If there's any political experts out there who can figure out how long it'll take to get the necessary changes made to end alimony and pardon these people, message me
My guess is actually more like 4 years
How do you plan to convince people to do this? It would be a massive disruption of their lives... I'm sorry, I reallyndont see this ever happening
Civil disobedience is exactly that
I mean Ghandi got people to starve themselves in protest
If it matters enough to them, they'll do it. And from how I'm planning this, these people will be doing a lot better than starving
And honestly, this is a big issue
Alimony and child support literally enslave innocent men
I think that's worth a little hardship if it means we can finally get rid of it completely
I mean, do you really think the better alternative is letting people stay in their home countries, and having their wages garnished, debts amassing, and having them thrown in jail?
I don't think so
You think it's worth it. But it's not about what you think, it's about making others think that too
Exactly
So ask someone who's paying what they think
Literally ask them
We can do surveys and polls for this sort of thing
But honestly, in my view, it won't go away until we can get overwhelming proof that the vast majority of women will be fine without forced financial support from men
