Yeah theyโre easy to make til a strong enough breeze comes through
I'm thinking about getting one in the future and seeing what accuracy would look like from you there
Up
Then study em and we can mass produce til we get better equipped
May well do that. Only problem is theyd get bubba'd and that'll mean regulations
4 wheels are sketcky enough
Let's be honest here
A fucking motorized parachute is bubba'd as is ๐
๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
You're not wrong unfortunately
Still cool as shit tho
Biggest draw for me is that I found a channel where the guy running it has multiple stories of accidentally running from the cops on one. Usually nosy Nellie's calling the law cause they don't understand and they can't pursue him in the air
id rather use a glider than that thing
When I save up for one and find a nice patch of nothing where I can pop off some rounds that might go completely sideways, I'll let y'all know if they're useful ๐คฃ
I really do not think they'd be hard to produce at all
Definitely not, there's guides all over the place. Biggest issue is training. There's a specific feeling you gotta get used to and you have to have some actual muscle to get liftoff
Would be cool to get some aircraft techs in here or pilots
Oh yes
My best friends dad has one of those powered parachutes. His chassis is way bigger than the one pictured though. Pretty loud, definitely no stealth entry
The paramotors are definitely fucking noisy. I would be curious to see if we can find a good stealth solution or if they can get high enough to recon without too much noise
Rather, how high off the ground you wohld have to be to be out of earshot. That sounds a little better
Drones maybe?
I saw mention of the DJI Mavic drones. Those are pretty quiet but theyre cell phone controlled and have GPS on them
And if they're not the mini they have to be FAA registered. Racing drones are much louder but arent limited by FAA regulations. No gps/tracking on most units and theyre DIY. Downfall is theyre much harder to control and the AV hardware is lacking unless youre paying big bucks
Also leave you pretty defenseless unless you have a team
Because they have large video receiver that you wear on your face
Would it be possible to take one of the racing ones that donโt have to be regulated and put quieter motors on them?
Im sure they sell quieter motors But im not positive on performance and whatnot
Iโve played around with some friends cheaper ones just fucking around in the back yard with them, but have absolutely zero expertise with the bigger ones
The racing ones can also be fucking FAST
I keep like there are certain situations that the speed could come in handy, but the noise would be a dead giveaway and leave someone a sitting duck
And unfortunately theyre not cheap enough to just have a pile of
Strap a thermal camera to drone
FLIR medium range cameras arenโt that expensive...that could work
When SHTF we wonโt be worried about FAA we can buy used ones that have been pre reg or from pre registration nera
I just got my ass whipped by a shitty header on a dodge truck
Ha loser
Correct
i wonder if computing counts as mechanics here lol
Did 7 years in Ford dealerships, glad to be out
@Garet such as? Im sure theres a good bit here you could do as well as Intel
mmm i suppose programming, networking, automation, websites
hardware recommendations idk
im fairly well rounded on the software side
@Garet in your opinion what is the next step for servers/communities like this in becoming independent of larger companies and networks
well if i had the resources i would say you'd really want more of a blockchain-style messaging system with the ability for groups to set their own permissions and level of discoverability. combine that with an easy way for barely-computer-literate folks to mirror a community site. kinda like how thepiratebay keeps itself up with tons of mirrors of the same data
though you could get fancier
Wow. Thatโs very mechanical
All software requires proper hardware. Ham Radio has progressed significantly over the years and could probably support local servers via CHIRP. Private encrypted LAN servers running linux could also support local supply chains or people networks with digital communications and intel.
@Shane_NA6 - Haven't hovered in years but I have 105 hours in a training helo, Robinson R-22.
Good shit
It's been a long goddamn day
@yeetasaurus drink that pain away bub
Bacardi and Crown are both tempting
Bacardi
Although I don't feel like mixing a drink currently
Sup everyone. Racecar building/engine assembly/welder and hopefully soon to be roll cage builder. Way things are going it looks like itโll be more armor than roll cages but ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Good shit. Glad to have you with us
Back to drones for a min. Def stay away from DJI. They control where you fly and track everything. Ready made rc sells everything you need to roll your own. Also check out tiny woop. They fit in the palm of your hand and have a camera that transmits to a video receiver. Also itโs not the motors that are noisy itโs the props. DJI props are about as quiet as you can get but still sound like bees. There are some pretty cheap bad ass planes that have long range and good cameras and can glide pretty far. Rmrc sells all that
The other big companies are FPV and surprisingly Amazon sells a ton for decently cheap
Im going to be spending money on my car soon, but thats just an unfortunate side effect of being a car guy
I feel the pain
I know how to work on any Chrysler vehicle and cummins stuff im a certified FCA tech
Dank
Iโm a industrial compressor and engine mechanic
I work on fords in my spare time
I'm a GM certified master tech but i left that because if its not a pushrod V8 it was trash and i hated warranty, so i work on european/exotic shit now
American motors went to junk there for a while
The newer gassers seem to be a ton better
Here I am, picking up a Discovery 1.... aka : the only reliable land rover...
nice dude. might be getting by first bike here soon
What bike
Got this on the back of my cbr300
2012 suzuki s40 I think
Nice
yee neighbor just got a bigger bike and wants to sell it to me for like 1k
@IA that looks like a good how to. I'll have to check it out later
So what shtf vehicles are yโall working on
Wife and I are looking at purchasing either a small transit bus or a box truck to turn into a mobile bugout home.
Very nice
Iโm working on an old 83 bronco right now
Debating on the fuel system
I have a 650 carb sitting in the garage I can throw on it for free but I kinda want a EFI replacement
i really want a fj70 troop hauler
That would be sweet
Those are goofy looking but they do their job well
there was 2 for sale on craigs for under 30 grand but i aint got that money
Oof
I picked up my bronco for 800 bucks lmao
nice
I put a battery in it and drove it up on to my trailer
The guy I bought it from was pretty upset, he had it for 4 years and could get it to run
