Let's be honest here

2020-04-29 03:25:12 UTC

A fucking motorized parachute is bubba'd as is 😂

2020-04-29 03:25:20 UTC

🤣🤣🤣

2020-04-29 03:25:25 UTC

You're not wrong unfortunately

2020-04-29 03:25:57 UTC

Still cool as shit tho

2020-04-29 03:27:01 UTC

Biggest draw for me is that I found a channel where the guy running it has multiple stories of accidentally running from the cops on one. Usually nosy Nellie's calling the law cause they don't understand and they can't pursue him in the air

2020-04-29 03:27:30 UTC

id rather use a glider than that thing

2020-04-29 03:28:37 UTC

When I save up for one and find a nice patch of nothing where I can pop off some rounds that might go completely sideways, I'll let y'all know if they're useful 🤣

2020-04-29 03:29:55 UTC

I really do not think they'd be hard to produce at all

2020-04-29 03:30:36 UTC

Definitely not, there's guides all over the place. Biggest issue is training. There's a specific feeling you gotta get used to and you have to have some actual muscle to get liftoff

2020-04-29 16:34:46 UTC

Would be cool to get some aircraft techs in here or pilots

2020-04-29 17:02:24 UTC

Oh yes

2020-04-29 17:12:43 UTC

My best friends dad has one of those powered parachutes. His chassis is way bigger than the one pictured though. Pretty loud, definitely no stealth entry

2020-04-29 17:21:36 UTC

The paramotors are definitely fucking noisy. I would be curious to see if we can find a good stealth solution or if they can get high enough to recon without too much noise

2020-04-29 17:21:59 UTC

Rather, how high off the ground you wohld have to be to be out of earshot. That sounds a little better

2020-04-29 17:22:18 UTC

Drones maybe?

2020-04-29 17:23:07 UTC

I saw mention of the DJI Mavic drones. Those are pretty quiet but theyre cell phone controlled and have GPS on them

2020-04-29 17:24:44 UTC

And if they're not the mini they have to be FAA registered. Racing drones are much louder but arent limited by FAA regulations. No gps/tracking on most units and theyre DIY. Downfall is theyre much harder to control and the AV hardware is lacking unless youre paying big bucks

2020-04-29 17:25:14 UTC

Also leave you pretty defenseless unless you have a team

2020-04-29 17:25:48 UTC

Because they have large video receiver that you wear on your face

2020-04-29 17:25:48 UTC

Would it be possible to take one of the racing ones that don’t have to be regulated and put quieter motors on them?

2020-04-29 17:27:47 UTC

Im sure they sell quieter motors But im not positive on performance and whatnot

2020-04-29 17:28:03 UTC

I’ve played around with some friends cheaper ones just fucking around in the back yard with them, but have absolutely zero expertise with the bigger ones

2020-04-29 17:28:11 UTC

The racing ones can also be fucking FAST

2020-04-29 17:30:13 UTC

I keep like there are certain situations that the speed could come in handy, but the noise would be a dead giveaway and leave someone a sitting duck

2020-04-29 17:34:05 UTC

And unfortunately theyre not cheap enough to just have a pile of

2020-04-29 18:14:02 UTC

Strap a thermal camera to drone

2020-04-29 18:14:57 UTC

FLIR medium range cameras aren’t that expensive...that could work

2020-04-29 18:14:58 UTC

When SHTF we won’t be worried about FAA we can buy used ones that have been pre reg or from pre registration nera

2020-04-29 19:11:52 UTC

I just got my ass whipped by a shitty header on a dodge truck

2020-04-29 19:15:16 UTC

Ha loser

2020-04-29 19:15:36 UTC

Correct

2020-04-29 19:54:55 UTC

i wonder if computing counts as mechanics here lol

2020-04-29 20:17:15 UTC

Did 7 years in Ford dealerships, glad to be out

2020-04-29 20:22:59 UTC

@Garet such as? Im sure theres a good bit here you could do as well as Intel

2020-04-29 20:23:41 UTC

mmm i suppose programming, networking, automation, websites

2020-04-29 20:23:52 UTC

hardware recommendations idk

2020-04-29 20:24:18 UTC

im fairly well rounded on the software side

2020-04-29 20:29:43 UTC

@Garet in your opinion what is the next step for servers/communities like this in becoming independent of larger companies and networks

2020-04-29 20:32:42 UTC

well if i had the resources i would say you'd really want more of a blockchain-style messaging system with the ability for groups to set their own permissions and level of discoverability. combine that with an easy way for barely-computer-literate folks to mirror a community site. kinda like how thepiratebay keeps itself up with tons of mirrors of the same data

2020-04-29 20:32:59 UTC

though you could get fancier
