I keep like there are certain situations that the speed could come in handy, but the noise would be a dead giveaway and leave someone a sitting duck

2020-04-29 17:34:05 UTC

And unfortunately theyre not cheap enough to just have a pile of

2020-04-29 18:14:02 UTC

Strap a thermal camera to drone

2020-04-29 18:14:57 UTC

FLIR medium range cameras aren’t that expensive...that could work

2020-04-29 18:14:58 UTC

When SHTF we won’t be worried about FAA we can buy used ones that have been pre reg or from pre registration nera

2020-04-29 19:11:52 UTC

I just got my ass whipped by a shitty header on a dodge truck

2020-04-29 19:15:16 UTC

Ha loser

2020-04-29 19:15:36 UTC

Correct

2020-04-29 19:54:55 UTC

i wonder if computing counts as mechanics here lol

2020-04-29 20:17:15 UTC

Did 7 years in Ford dealerships, glad to be out

2020-04-29 20:22:59 UTC

@Garet such as? Im sure theres a good bit here you could do as well as Intel

2020-04-29 20:23:41 UTC

mmm i suppose programming, networking, automation, websites

2020-04-29 20:23:52 UTC

hardware recommendations idk

2020-04-29 20:24:18 UTC

im fairly well rounded on the software side

2020-04-29 20:29:43 UTC

@Garet in your opinion what is the next step for servers/communities like this in becoming independent of larger companies and networks

2020-04-29 20:32:42 UTC

well if i had the resources i would say you'd really want more of a blockchain-style messaging system with the ability for groups to set their own permissions and level of discoverability. combine that with an easy way for barely-computer-literate folks to mirror a community site. kinda like how thepiratebay keeps itself up with tons of mirrors of the same data

2020-04-29 20:32:59 UTC

though you could get fancier

2020-04-29 20:33:18 UTC

make more-or-less another internet, like TOR does @Diggs

2020-04-29 23:47:35 UTC

Wow. That’s very mechanical

2020-04-30 01:11:28 UTC

All software requires proper hardware. Ham Radio has progressed significantly over the years and could probably support local servers via CHIRP. Private encrypted LAN servers running linux could also support local supply chains or people networks with digital communications and intel.

2020-04-30 23:34:57 UTC

@Shane_NA6 - Haven't hovered in years but I have 105 hours in a training helo, Robinson R-22.

2020-04-30 23:52:44 UTC

Good shit

2020-05-01 02:51:40 UTC

It's been a long goddamn day

2020-05-01 02:52:01 UTC

@yeetasaurus drink that pain away bub

2020-05-01 03:28:31 UTC

Bacardi and Crown are both tempting

2020-05-01 03:28:43 UTC

Bacardi

2020-05-01 03:29:11 UTC

Although I don't feel like mixing a drink currently

2020-05-01 06:12:12 UTC

Sup everyone. Racecar building/engine assembly/welder and hopefully soon to be roll cage builder. Way things are going it looks like it’ll be more armor than roll cages but 🤷🏼‍♂️

2020-05-01 11:23:41 UTC

Good shit. Glad to have you with us

2020-05-01 13:22:53 UTC

Back to drones for a min. Def stay away from DJI. They control where you fly and track everything. Ready made rc sells everything you need to roll your own. Also check out tiny woop. They fit in the palm of your hand and have a camera that transmits to a video receiver. Also it’s not the motors that are noisy it’s the props. DJI props are about as quiet as you can get but still sound like bees. There are some pretty cheap bad ass planes that have long range and good cameras and can glide pretty far. Rmrc sells all that

2020-05-01 13:41:29 UTC

The other big companies are FPV and surprisingly Amazon sells a ton for decently cheap

2020-05-03 22:45:50 UTC

Does anybody else's 2A budget have any competition?
