English Canada used to be haughty regarding poutine..... But since a couple of years, they have learned to accept and enjoy it.
... So, it really ticks me off when people say that it's a "Canadian" dish.
When people hear of Canada, they rarely think of French Canada. I mean, at least say that it's FRENCH Canadian... I'm looking at stuff like that one episode with Gordon Ramsay where he is some foreign country and with a high-class chef and they serve among the multiple dishes poutine (well, a variant) to some rich people. They only say that it's based on a Canadian dish. I think that at that time, English Canada were only starting to accept the dish.
