r/K selection theory, where r is the more children/ less parental involvement strategy, and K is the opposite. After living the majority of my life in the South, I can confirm this is true in most cases.

It's a decent metaphor at the very least. Blacks/Hispanics/Muslims pop out kids at an alarming rate, whereas whites have very few (for various reasons).
