Most Americans of colonial British extraction are descended from Edward III, so we’re likely related obscurely
gosh you guys are making me jealous
Yeah I’m applying (really just means submitting the paperwork) to join the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Sons of American Revolution, and Magna Carta Barons. Looking forward to meeting them all and getting some really good contacts going forward in the local business community
@Conway - OK very based
tfw your ancestors fought on wrong side of Civil War <:sad:366743316475281408>
TN AL connection through the SAR/MCB going to run the Southeast 😎
My ancestors were in the same region for at least hundreds of years until my parents broke the tradition
I have white guilt but for opposite the normal reasons
@Sam Southern - TN could join sons of confederate veterans and sons of union veterans
Would be lol, am considering doing
@Jacob Americans trace back 400 years some Euro genealogies can be traced waaayyyyy back
Of course Americans can too but it’s difficult to trace ancestry back to the European continent and keep going
American genealogies don’t stop on this side of the Atlantic
I mean I don't have a genealogy, but I can infer where my ancestors were using other information
Sitting down to eat now, but we should get a server going of relatives of SCV/SAR/MCB
Help to streamline applications and connections
My family never kept track of our ancestry
Red white and blueblooded Americans
Other than tracing the origins of my dad’s parents and grandparents last names and when the first of that name arrived in NA, I don’t know much about that side. My dads parents died before I was born, my dad was the 11th of 12 children and both of his parents were the final children of large families too. So most of the family records went to the first borns.
Get Ancestry.com kit. They actually try to match you to relatives
I just know that my dad's side is ethnically Kashubian, and I can look up what region Kashubians are from. That's my method for tracing my ancestry.
@Sam Southern - TN lmao enjoy your meal fam, I’ll dm you later
you might find someone who is related who has traced their ancestry
Imo heritage organizations would be an easy front for us to get some influence in
Ancestry makes you pay for European records.. nahh fam
Plus, my dad’s side came from poverty.
@Conway - OK my mawmaw’s side were all poor as hell
@Conway - OK gotta track down those first borns' kids
lol my ancestors were peasants, there's not gonna be any records on them
Can we get the Dalai Lama to speak at our conference?
Dude we were cotton sharecroppers
My maternal grandmother was literally an Appalachian depression era sharecropper
my great-grandma jumped trains
My paternal grandmother was the granddaughter of a senator and the daughter of the president of the Canadian land bank
Swedes would only move to an area equally as cold and fertile as Sweden. AKA MN.
Great grandma had babies with four diff landowners. My dad said if you were a woman you were picking cotton, wearing a dress, and getting raped. Those things were for sure
I have an ancestor who fought for the Confederacy in Tennessee
*you get the beeeest of both worlds*
@missliterallywho I’d like to but my dad’s oldest sibling was born in 1925. I never met her.
If I do a DNA test, I'm going to get the cheapest one and then use codegen.eu to analyze my genome
