It'd be a step in the right direction, but I'd prefer a loose confederation of sovereign nation states with their own militaries and currencies, but if the currency were shared, the central bank would have to be ours and nationalized (no more private central bank nonsense, or Zimbabwe-tier inflation due to ebonomics).

This solution would let Southern California ban guns and state enforce sex changes, and let the Republican bloc ban gay marriage and cut immigration to zero

The shared military shared currency is just to get the process started and to maybe let some of the more malleable oligarchs to prmit it
