TL;DR: Willingness to support a political movement depends on (1) people agree with the basic premises, (2) people feel like that there is a genuine threat, and (3) people believe that they can do something about it
I was thinking start small and grow outwards
@missliterallywho 420 is not a bad sample size as long as it is representative of the general population. Or did you just think it sounds funny because of the number?
Sounds like the impetus behind the identitarian movement
Most people seem to have a prob with 3
Maybe
@Jacob joke implying environmentalists are *green* in more ways than one
oh lmao
I don’t see anything I do making a difference when there’s Delhi and Beijing doing their thing.
Maybe Identitarianism is making the difference like someone suggested
I find that a lot of my friends are a problem with number 2. So often it happens that they'll agree with all my premises, but they're still liberal because they don't feel threatened
Global environmentalism requires very different actions than national environmentalism
I’d never separated the two. I’ve always thought of environmentalism as a global thing
I’m expanding the way I think
I have a friend who hates Trump and she was able to summarize my talking points in a very fair way and didn't even claim that they were invalid. She just doesn't give a shit because she doesn't feel threatened yet.
Appreciate you guys
We should be focusing on preserving American wilderness. Immigration is the biggest threat.
Our education system def frames it as a global crisis
National Eco action should be maintaining topsoil, opposing Big Ag, and reducing population density. Global Eco action would be war with China
@Jacob I see your point. Your right my goal is to persuade. My persuasion method to pull them to my world view. But I am no great expert, that us just my personal tactic.
Talking to my friends is like that Spongebob meme where the superhero guy tells Patrick a bunch of statements and Patrick is like "sounds about right" but at the end he still disagrees
I'll have friends accept every single fucking premise and at the end still by like "Drumpf lol"
It’s what the cool kids are doing.. according to Late night TV
@Jacob um i beleive that's ManRay you're referring to <:really:453005408064241674>
🍊 👱 👹
I mean honestly, I prefer this kind of mentality to outright denying the premises
It's a step
no excuses
That Texan Squirrel immigrated to bikini bottom fleeing the Latino invasion
A lot of these people would probably switch sides if they get enough social permission too
That’s what I was getting at with late night tv
@William Russell we must rebuild atlantis
Their drumpf views are constantly validated
I’d love to see some photos showing the environmental catastrophes in the countries sending us the most migrants
Tijuana
Posters* not photos
I was actually really pleasantly surprised when I asked my fairly strongly anti-Trump friend something along the lines of "be honest, do you secretly know that I'm right and you're just afraid to agree?" and the answer I got was "I don't know"
