It would be far nicer to look at the actual data flow... rather than intermittent dumps of data

2020-11-27 08:30:33 UTC

ofc

2020-11-27 08:30:54 UTC

we are looking at 3rd hand data 😦

2020-11-27 08:31:27 UTC

I swear to god though I am thinking about setting up an open source project to build the next voting machines, and tabulation devices, using block-chain and double data redundancy.

2020-11-27 08:32:11 UTC

I wonder if there is a large enough group of devs that would want to get in on that to make it a reality...

2020-11-27 08:42:00 UTC

In my mind there are things that you want to do, obviously an intuitive and usable interface for the voter, and 2 physical print outs. 1 the ballot to be inserted in the tabulator, and the tabulators receipt to be retained by the voter for accuracy. Where the receipt has a random uuid for the voter, and the selections made by the voter. That way if there is an issue and the voter has their receipt its a simple matter for the system to recall the ballot details and compare. On top of that networking to a local subnet server (no external network access) to a secure server for storage of the tabulated votes. The printed ballots and the digital data can be used to audit the counts.

Absentee ballots are still the PITA though.

2020-11-27 08:44:10 UTC

don't bother

2020-11-27 08:44:13 UTC

it won't be used

2020-11-27 08:44:23 UTC

and when it does get used, it won't be your project

2020-11-27 08:45:17 UTC

there is no need for something complicated and possibly vulnerable like blockchain

2020-11-27 08:45:24 UTC

(Quantum or whatever comes next)

2020-11-27 08:45:44 UTC

all they need to is make it auditable by random sampling

2020-11-27 08:46:52 UTC

i.e take 1000 random samples per state, and be able to figure out who the ballot casters are (by barcode <=> registration id) without opening the ballots from their seals, then go interview these 1000 people and ask them if they are willing to check their sealed ballot and verify the vote

2020-11-27 08:47:24 UTC

this could be done with 18th century tech

2020-11-27 08:48:28 UTC

True, but the purpose I was going to add for the block chain was for the digital recall by any voter to view their own ballot in a secure manner

2020-11-27 08:48:32 UTC

HI guys, more evidence of fraud

2020-11-27 08:48:45 UTC

Lots and lots of it. all neatly organized as article / video links

2020-11-27 08:51:25 UTC

mmm interesting

2020-11-27 08:51:28 UTC

too many stuff though

2020-11-27 08:51:42 UTC

I can't spend the time to figure out what's BS and what is not yet BS

2020-11-27 09:00:10 UTC

yep deluge of info and disinfo is an inescapable problem these days

2020-11-27 09:00:22 UTC

"fact checkers" only make it worse

2020-11-27 09:46:35 UTC

it says it has evidence but I've yet to see what "it" is

2020-11-27 09:47:04 UTC

I don't see how vulnerability of being tampered adds up to it ACTUALLY being tampered

2020-11-27 10:08:53 UTC

IMO bad take and won't happen

2020-11-27 10:09:17 UTC

For national security?

2020-11-27 10:09:23 UTC

Bruh?

2020-11-27 10:10:04 UTC

Is that related to the pins social media is putting on posts?

2020-11-27 10:15:28 UTC

meh he is using hyperbole

2020-11-27 10:15:36 UTC

but also I've made a rant about section 230

2020-11-27 10:18:39 UTC

here is my section 230 rant

2020-11-27 10:18:48 UTC

it's a trojan horse!

2020-11-27 12:33:36 UTC

You're lucky discord doesn't charge by the pound.

2020-11-27 12:34:48 UTC

I should have a rant archive as well, but I am afraid the court will use it against me.

2020-11-27 12:36:54 UTC

Haha

2020-11-27 12:37:40 UTC

That's why it's nice to be incapable of making a complete argument. It keeps me safe.

2020-11-27 12:38:17 UTC

thats what you think, but that is one inch closer to a court ordered treatment program.

2020-11-27 12:38:37 UTC

Lmao

2020-11-27 12:41:17 UTC

but then again, an army of goodness signalers with compulsory need to make waffels and drown you in pseudo-empathy might be just what we need at this point.
