College is just a way to transfer the cost of training from the employer to the employee. It's a wage reduction hidden behind a veneer
I once had a friend tell me about a white person doing some mean to a black person, and I calmly explained to him that all this proves is that mildly inconveniencing a black person gets more attention than committing an actual crime against a white person. By the end of the conversation he took my side and agreed that it's a double standard and this stuff shouldn't actually be news.
You can change people's minds by politely pointing stuff like this out
I think many whites are feeling the heat of crime and anti whiteness and so they may overreact but they often react correctly
@Freiheit - CA I've got my glass of ice ready for fireside! <:teehee:381917632359563264>
Since colleges operate like businesses now, they basically let in literally whoever. It has the kind of nasty side effect of drastically lowering the quality of the service you’re provided.
It's a side effect of unlimited credit sponsored by the government. Unlimited credit always generates Monopoly pricing
“Group project” = “required hand holding for people who shouldn’t have been allowed to finish high school”

In the long term, it's actually *good* for us in a way that these stories about a black person being inconvenienced go viral. Because it gives us a great opportunity to point out double standards.
So, by all means, yes, the media *should* keep overreacting every time a white person mildly inconveniences a black person.
*Ice Chewers are the most powerful race in the world*

@ophiuchus Exactly, and the fact that tuition costs vary based on whether you're in-state or not also supports that, my grades were not as high as what was regarded to be the admission standard, but that out-of-state tuition cost definitely played into my acceptance
My teeth hurt. Halp
Ice chewing wears down your teeth
@ophiuchus I am like a shark, my teeth are always regrowing
But the teeth that do remain are extra strong
i don't even chew ice, i get my drinks without ice
@Jordan - MD I went to school on a full ride and the amount of teaching I had to do to keep people I worked with in the loop was basically a full time job
The infamous “guy who couldn’t find the average of three numbers” or “girl who argued with me until she was blue in the face that THIS HYDROGEN ATOM IS DOUBLE BONDED”

I got into UW through affirmative action and ended up taking classes that were way above my level

i went to art school so I didn't have to worry about all that... 😳
I honestly would have preferred they not accept me
I got accepted into stem classes by saying I was "mixed race" aka French AND anglo
I was arguing with a friend about IQ once and he was like, "so if they told you you're not smart enough and should go to a trade school, you would be okay with that?"
Uh... yes, I would not only be okay, but *thankful* that I wasn't thrown into something way above my level
