@Green Syndicalism K sry I was in the middle of doing something else at that same. In hindsight, it was a bs post. But what you are suggesting is a large-scale protectionist economy within America. That helps absolutely no one, even the industries involved in the long run. China helps its own industries, sure, but China is not America. The US' tariffs are not happening in a static world; they are happening in tandem with retaliatory tariffs (by China and other trading partners) which make US' exports uncompetitive. Even if the US starts helping out all its industries, they will eventually look for foreign markets. You are simply stifling their economic freedom. A protectionist economy is a globalized world does not work.
have you even looked at the stats? you have both a trade deficit *and* a massive budget deficit. When you eventually lose the reserve currency of the world (which you will eventually, trump is making sure of that), these drains on your economy will become apparent. You'll have a weak dollar, making foreign imports very expensive, raising the cost of living without actually raising the wages of your own workers. What do you think this will be other than a monster recession? You won't have the local industries in existence to mitigate the effects of this *inevitability* because you *didnt* protect them in the first place.
>they will eventually look for foreign markets.
you know why they rely on this? its because local consumers dont have the demand to satiate the productive capacities of your own industries because they're in so much debt and their wages aren't going up. If you increased the purchasing power of your own citizens (with proper wage growth and modern debt jubilees), your economy would be *far* less dependent on foreign markets sales.
>That helps absolutely no one, even the industries involved in the long run
you've said this, then provided no argument to back it up. while i agree we shouldnt protect *every industry* because these industries dont exist in a vacuum (my steel tariffs example is a good illustration of this), we should protect the industries at the top of the pile, because they're the ones who provide the high wages, they're the ones who provide for global monopolies and they're the ones who make america's national security and hegemony secure. It makes *no* sense to allow these industries to be offshored, and they needn't be with good regulation. Keeping industries at home leads to future productivity gains *in your own nation*, encourages immigration of the most skilled and educated workers from other nations (a brain sink) and ensures full sovereignty as you are less reliant on the whims of foreign states.
the argument for free trade is "you get cheaper goods in the short run!"
it ignores every other aspect of the economy
@Green Syndicalismmy intellectual friend

Trump ftw
The duopoly continues regardless. I would have rather seen trump as a third party candidate, but like Bernie in the end you just end up a deal maker for the establishment.
press 1 if you read greens rant
TRMP
our lord and savior
@robert from kinoplex I never seen Trump like this the president sit must be taking a huge toll on him
I read what @Green Syndicalism wrote. So, people on this server have reading abilities that need to be catered to? Apparently that's considered a "rant" and not to be read.
Some of you definitely haven't opened a book huh. Afraid of libraries as well? Too many words? Yikes
Oops I'm hitting the character cap for ranting and spamming huh 😨
the two of you constantly making comments about people not being able to read is getting old so drop it @Dr.Cosby @Green Syndicalism
Yes sir, please don't ban me sir
But to be clear: can I make comments and whine when people write TOO much? I want to know the rules so I am not punished <:peepobad:538084182644228112>

"green's rant"
you mean "green's counterargument to an interlocuter". isnt that meant to be the point of discord servers like this? to engage in debate and discuss these concepts with people? if you refuse to read anything longer than a few sentences, why should anyone take your views seriously?
Idk it's a roundabout ad hominem I've seen elsewhere, hopefully it's not too common of a problem here. Telling someone "tldr" is a cheap shot.
or maybe I was making a joke

Bullshit article 😂
Cummings in that video calls his area drug infested and called his residents zombies
It's almost like a person's character, intent, and reputation (as well as context) have an impact on how their words are interpreted...
