The Walmart here is really pushing Scan & Go. I was pressed four times yesterday to leave my checkout line. 😒

I get how the system might be convenient for people without much produce in their carts who don't have an aversion to cameras. Those I've talked to prefer having a cashier, though.

the more stuff i have in my cart, the easier it becomes to go to a cashier, and the less i have, the better self-check out is. And it really comes down to 2 main issues: Do i have enough room to unload my cart or basket for most of its stuff, and will i need human intervention. The more stuff i have, the more i'm i'm going to have to keep turning around, bending over, picking up a single item, scanning it, and repeat at a self checkout kiosk because there is not enough room for unloading the stuff for easy grab and scan. Also the more stuff i have, the greater the chance of needing a human, and more than once

Also with large amounts of stuff, it becomes quicker to have a person scanning stuff as i unload it.

and in some cases people bagging it.

although those 2 points are mitigated by having a second person with you shopping
